Guest guest
I know this might have already been explained, but I thought that the malabsorption was basically the same with the RNY and the DS, I do know that part of the pyloric valve is kept thus creating less malabsorption that way vs. the rny, but what else is the difference? in Pa. The pyloric valve has nothing to do with malabsorption, it has to do with the valve opening and closing to allow the food to go from the stomach to the intestines whereas with the RNY it is either absent or not functioning and therefore the food is dumped into the small intestine as it was an open drain..... the other differences are the quality of life the DSer has with his relationship with food which is so much better. No stoma blockages etc..... Judie

Even the distal RNY and DS are very different. I don't want to give any misinformation so I will try and find the sites that explain it better than I ever could.
