Guest guest
Hi all - well it's been a long week waiting for our appointment! I have basically been putting on the DBB only when my hubby is around so as not to cause any further conflict, but I will say that he is definitely interested now in what Dr. Pirani has to say. AND...I got a response from Dr. Ponseti regarding whether Hayden's feet are atypical or not. Here's what he had to say: " Dear Mrs. Cohen: Hayden does indeed have atypical clubfeet. It is sad to read his history of suffering. We are seeing more and more of these atypical clubfeet. Hayden has one of the deepest creases on the sole of the foot that I have seen. He needs special treatment. When the cast is applied, the foot has to be dorsiflexed using both thumbs under the metatarsals. The Markell lace up open toe shoes will not work for the atypical clubfeet. Hayden must have the shoes. Dr. Pirani knows how to obtain them, but of course Hayden will not be ready for them until the deformity is corrected. At the web site www.global-help.org under Publications, the booklet Clubfoot: Ponseti Management has been updated to include on page 15 a section on the atypical clubfoot. I.V. Ponseti, M.D. " I was happy to get this today in time to take to Dr. Pirani. I am very excited about what he will say/recommend. Will fill you all in tomorrow!
