Guest guest
Our son Sheldon (3 years, PDH deficiency according to muscle biopsy) receives PT, OT, speech, and spec. ed. services. He didn't walk until 19 months and still does not talk. Usually when he has a persistent cough it turns out to be a sinus infection and clears up with antibiotics. Guest guest
We deal with viruses a lot as well and it does often seem that just as one virus ends, another one begins. It can be frustrating and very wearing on the kids. Both my 4 year old and my 14 month old also have lots of issues that require SP, PT, and OT like your children. As Mito often causes regressions and neurological delays and damage, most of our kids have the need for therapy. My first daughter gained skills at the average age and then started having regressions due to stroke activity and my youngest one has been very up and down as to gaining skills at the appropriate age. She is behind in some areas and ok in other areas. We were able to get her therapy at a much younger age than we did for my older daughter, so that has really helped. It depends on what you are wondering about concerning the personality issue. Many of our kids have autistic behaviors with or without a diagnosis and due to many of the cognitive delays or even speech/physical delays, the kids often display frustration, outbursts, repetitiveness, clinginess, mood swings, and myriads of other behaviors that healthy kids might not display. Hope some of this has helped you. I am sure the others have also given you lots as well.
