We tried the feeds again last night. Everything Barb warned me about

just about happened. The night started out great, then I heard him

wimper a little during the night. No big deal I thought. At about

4:45 he started to moan. I was too lazy to get out of the comfy

vinyl couch so I just popped my head up and told him to go back to

sleep. Well the moans kept getting closer and closer together so I

finally got my lazy butt out of bed and went to check on him. He was

sweating profusely. I sat him up and he projectile vomitted to the

end of the bed. Thank goodness I got up. He was gagging after

vomiting, his sats had dropped, and he was sweating so bad. He

calmed down after awhile and is feeling much better now. His stomach

could not handle the feed and his reflux must have started to flair

up. He only had one can of pediasure in the 8 hours, but all of it

came up. I won't be doing the overnight feeds anymore. I guess I

would rather have less sleep, then the constant worry about

aspirating. Thanks to everyone for all of the very helpful advice.

Geri-Anne and Wyatt, Complex I

p.s. Of course He still hasn't had a seizure. Say some prayers that

he has one soon so they can see what I am talking about. Thanks

Geri-Anne,

Sorry to hear Wyatt didn't do well with the feed. I guess you never know

until you try, huh?

Isn't it ironic that when you want your kid to have a seizure he doesn't...

I can't believe I am saying this but, I hope he has one soon so you guys can

go home. :) I am sure you are ready for a comfy bed. Those vinyl couches

leave much to be desired!

Good luck!

Geri-Anne,

I am sorry to hear about your tough nite with Wyatt. I hope last nite was better=) Something to consider would be to start with a much smaller amount over a shorter period and wean up on the amount of formula and time it is given. Does Wyatt tolerate bolus feeds? It is possible to thicken the formula, so that he is less likely to reflux, but it would have to be pumped in by hand. HTH
