Last night we started Wy on his new seizure med, which is actually

an old med that he is restarting. Anyways the med comes in liquid

form and was labelled in mililiters and we were to give it in

miligrams. So we figured out the dosage to be .5 cc's which seemed

too small to us so we gave him 5 cc's. Right after we gave it to

him we realized the .5ccs was the right amount. So I called the

neuro immediately. She had never given a patient such a large

dosage and she was unsure of what to expect so she had me call

poison control while she called the pharmacy. She called me back

and we had all agreed that he would be very drowsy but should be

fine. Well the neuro was still unsure so she called poison control

herself and gave them a little more info on Wyatt's background.

Within 4 minutes she called us back to tell us that poison control

felt that he should be monitored in the hospital due to his

diagnosis. So at 12:30 at night Wy was readmitted. So

frustrating! But the real kicker is the drug had the opposite

affect on Wyatt. He barely slept at the hospital and has not fallen

asleep yet today. The only emotion I have left in me after this

week is laughter. So here I am laughing about the whole situation.

I think our neuro and poison control think I have totally lost it.

Oh well!
