Guest guest
Tabitha- Were the sores present when the cast was removed? Sometimes the cast themselves can cause these sores. I know Kori will pipe in the whole chop the shoes up!! When Karter is out of the shoes, it is best to let " nature " do the healing-minus the ointment minus the bandaids. Now, when he has the shoes on-feel free to bandaid to your hearts content. You may want to try double socking his feet-when the skin gets out of the casts-it is sensitive since it hasnt seen daylight for 2 weeks, 2 days. The mitchells may also be the solution but lets work with what you have so that correction is not lost. Check out the shoes and see if there is anything that could be rubbing his foot/causing the discomfort, and as Kori always suggests-chop it out Hope this helps, kathleen > > OK everyone. Guest guest
I know I am kind of a nut about this. But I will say it again and again cause it really does work. Lanisoh lanolin cream on blisters. I promise, it really does work. Karter OK everyone. Karter's casts were taken off Wen. Morning. We made it 2 weeks and almost 2 days. He has been so happy! Crawling, standing, laughing. Was to my surprise when I gave him a bath lastnight to find large redish/purple area under strap on one foot and blister on the other. Spent 2 hours looking at old posts and finding what to do for this. He also had this problem a couple times with old Dr. and he always told us to leave the DBB off until healed. I think this is why we relapsed? I really do not want to take shoes off so close to the casts coming off and it doesn't seem to bother him at all. I currently have triple antibiotic ointment and bandaids on both areas. I plan on calling Dr. P today. When we where there he mentioned the 's, but thought we would try DBB with the foot being corrected properly first. This has been a long road for us and I feel like we are close to finding the end.(Even if he has to wear shoes for like another 3 years) I just want everything to go smoothly for him. He has never liked anyone to be near his feet and hopefully this will go away with time. We have been doing this for 14 month and just feel like I as a parent can not get it right. I just want him to have perfect feet and followed last Dr. to the T. Now started with the best and just going down the same road again and again. I will admit that Dr. P. is wonderful. He looked at Karter's feet as if they were gold. Sorry I am going on and on. Just wish we could figure out something that would work. Guest guest
Well, I certainly wouldn't leave the shoes off to let these heal. That's just not worth it... Does he only have the blisters under the strap of the shoes? That's sort of an uncommon place to get them. Lots of kids wind up with some kind of mild redness there that has to do with having a tight strap across their foot all the time, but that doesn't seem to be bothersome. One thing you should do is make sure his socks are fitting well. If they are bunched up from being too loose on him, that could cause some friction and a sore. I always tug Jonah's socks out at the toes right after I get his shoes on him and put the tip of my finger up under the tongue to check for bunchiness. Blisters are almost always caused by friction or rubbing, so make sure you are getting his heel far into the back of the shoe before you tighten the straps so that you get get those shoes on as tight as possible. Remember too that his skin is probably pretty sensitive and tender after being in casts. You can also take the tongue right out of the shoe, it might relieve a bit of pressure. Don't put much by way of ointment on the blister (unless it has popped) as that will hinder it getting better. You can put one of those Dr Scholl's corn pads with the hole in the center on it so that the pressure of the strap isn't right against it. If Karter isn't screaming in pain and seems to be pretty happy in the FAB, that's most of your battle right there. Good luck! Please let us know if you think of other questions. Guest guest
I just love this stuff too. I have gone through 2 tubes of it since I first had to buy it for nursing and you know how little you have to use. This is probably one of the best products I have come across when talking bang for your buck. It is also awesome on baby's dry skin in the winter. I use it on Graces scalp if there is a little dry spot. It has also really helped my pointer fingers which get really dry?? I think from washing dishes. I could go on and on...it is just the best and a little dab will do ya! & Grace > > I know I am kind of a nut about this. But I will say it again and again cause it really does work. Guest guest
Lansinoh will also clear up diaper rash overnight. It has worked much magic in our home as well. I use it all of the time.
