Guest guest
I don't know about medical bills. Once I had quit working & was on disability, I couldn't pay my mortgage. I was taking money out of my meager retirement funds to keep the bills paid. the housing market was very depressed, and my house needed lots of work before I could sell it. The mortgage co. wouldn't help me out & I just couldn't keep depleting my retirement money, so tht's why I filed. Ramblin' Rose Moderator A merry heart is good medicine. Guest guest
I believe you are right, because I remember Carol Burnett doing a spoof of "Pillow Talk" & singing that song. Guest guest
Rose I didn't mean to get personal. I don't own a house or a car and my retirement is gone. I guess there isn't anything for them to come get unless they took my brain straw back. They did tell me it had titanium ? in it! Guest guest
Dont know bout where you are but lizzy and I did it a number of years ago and it saved ouir pretty little,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,well maybe not so little but they sure as heck were pretty,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,ok so maybe hers was pretty amd mine was just swollen from ht e prednosone, dman now im all depressed again,,,,,,,ok i shokk it odff, bottoms, they took all our medical bills and tossed them out the window and we started with a clean slate, and thank God for that. We went back and paid off the private practice docs later when we could, except for one who sent the check back and said go to dinner, you guys need this a hell of alot more than me, he was a great guy too bad hes retired now. The only trick to that is pay anyone off you want to just NEVER SIGN ANYTHING, pay as you can and as you feel right about, or dont pay if you cant or even if you just dont want to, you have no obligation as long as you DSONT SIGN ANYTHING. thats the kiss of death, and our rule was if anyone asked us to sign a contract screw em, we didnt pay them a damned thing becasue they knew they were putting us right back on the hook we just got off of, but we were lucky every one of the people we felt obligated to treated us wonderfully and we were able to get it all taken care of without any trouble at all, as far as the hospitals and clinics, well I have always felt bad about it but we owed ten of thousands of dollars to every one of them and we just have never had it, and now we owe just as much againi, so there was just no was it could happen I cna only pray they understand that in our position it was inevitable. And I think at least some of them did, becausd at least one is right now telling us that they would understand if we had to do it again. Hows that for business ethics????? Not all are quite that understanding though. Oh and by the way you can put other bills in with medical bills if you can show that all or the vast majority was used because of the medical costs, and it isnt that hard to show it when its true, we had then as we have now only one credit card, its always been our rule, and they never have a limit over 2000, so its not that hard to show what you spent the money on, in our case it was mostly co-pays! By the way, judges LOVE people who dont have multiple cards or cards with big limits, or big mortages or expensive cars, mostly they LOVE conservative people who have trouble because of trouble not stupidity, they LOVE LOVE LOVE to help those kinds of people, which we happen to be. They like to hlep us so much that when our lawyer told us that the judge ALWAYS makes clients stand and explain what happened to put them in front of him just to embarrass them and liked to see them cry and trun red, he was amazed when our judge simply said Im sorry this had to happen to you MR and Mrs Hightower, hopefully what we do today will make your lives easier and happier, we never had to say a word. so dont be afraid and dont listen to the horror stories, your one of the good people who have had a hard time you are who the bankruptsy laws were written for, if you need help go get it and dont feel bad. Stu PS Good thing that judge didnt make us get up and talk too, were not the type who ever believed in bankruptsies before, we both would probably have blubbered like fools, that would have been a great show for his court!!! Guest guest
Well, , there's big money in scrap metal, but I'm not sure titanium is in demand. Do you have any gold fillings you could pry out & sell if you needed some quick cash?!? Ramblin' Rose Moderator A merry heart is good medicine.
