Guest guest
They don't have those big stores in a lot of big cities.. unfortunately.. They have small mom and pop stores that don't have the variety - and their prices are higher...When you get out into the suburbs there are more supermarkets, but the landscape is not designed for walking.. The first time I was in LA, for example, I was shocked that many towns dont even have sidewalks.. They are designed intenationally without sidewalks. When polled, many towns didnt want mass transit, such as busses and light rail.. afraid that that would allow 'riffraff' to go there.. And then they complain that they can't fill low paid service jobs..In LA, it may not still be like this, but when I was there in te past, if you suggest walking somewhere people look at you like you are crazy... Suggest taking a bus and they think you have gone nuts.. Where I live now is much more livable and walkable.. More people take public transit too.. There is no stigma..But still, surviving without a car is very hard.. especially shopping..What kind of job does your daughter have? Does she sit all day or does she walk around there? If she sits all day, then she should get exercise.. but if she has to walk.. maybe she is exhausted.. I went many years doing sales jobs where I had to stand all day, by the time I got home, I couldn't do one more thing..I collapsed..My days off (which were always mondays and tuesdays, never weekends..) were spent doing chores.. I had few friends because everyone else was off weekends..
Guest guest
You are absolutely correct Rose, according to the very same source, by the way, it is the American diet that causes the majority of our health problems, a diet that is a result of our economic prosperity, a diet by the way that the rest of the world is begining to follow as their economies begin to prosper as a result of our sharing the wealth. Try to keep in mind as you read these reports from the who and other world organizations that most are funded by the United Nations, an organization that is anti-AMerican by any standard. During the time that the WHO was working on stats to prove how poor the health care in the United States is Kofi Anan and his sons were raping the coffers of the UN for Billions for themselves, naturally this was all investigated by Kofis own offices and nothing was found amiss unless you listen to every reporter from around the world who reported on the story, but then what do they know. In short, look and listen for yourself, if you want propoganda listen to the ?WHO and a hundred other groups who are going to tell you exactly what they want you to believe. If you want the truth get on the net, contact people the world over, you can do that these days at no cost with little effort, ask them how life really is in these utopias like CUBA the most repressive regime in the western hemisphere, and try to keep in mind that while there are poor in America and there always will be, our poor routinly have more than one television, a car albiet a older one, a roof over their heads and unless they forgot to go to the food stamp office that week plenty of junk food in the cabinet, compare thatt to the poor in oh say Brazil, one of the great paradimes of progress according to the UN where a poor child is gaurenteed hunger, NO medical care whatsoever, no tv, no food unless they steal it, no roof over their head unless a cardboard box comes handy, no clothing except what they can steal, and no money unless they decide to turn to prostitution. Now folks THAT is proverty, and although there are isolated cases of these kinds of things happening in every society, in places like Brazil, Africa, South East Asia and others this is everyday life for millions! Oh and as for some diseases not being reported, that I am sure is absolutely true, I have in fact no doubt that there are quite a few illnesses that never get reported. Imagine how difficult it is to report every single illness that occurs in a population of 300 million souls. Now ask yourself if America with the most advanced record keeping available to it has that problem isnt it likely that the rest of the world has the same problem, in some places better in some places worse, so that overall the truth is rather balanced. That is after all what statistics are all about, finding the truth in an imperfect world. So once again what this, as with most questions, boils down to is this, we should try to keep emotion out of it, even though we are deeply affected, ( and yes I do understand that everyone in this room is DEEPLY affected by this question, myself included, if you have any question about this let me tell you that Liz and I and right now facing the question do we refinance our home that has been paid off for quite awhile now and is our only real asset that we havent had to liquidate or do we let our credit slowly slip into the abis while I continue fighting this disease that is winning day by day, yes I DO know what this question REALLY means), it is all to easy to look at things from a personal angle and say this is how it should be, but this is something that will afffect our grandchildren, it is too important to answer with emotion, it is our responsibility to learn the truth, not just the propaganda and then vote for who and what we believe is right for the country as a whole. Ok, putting the soapbox back in the garage,,,,,,,,,,,for now. God Bless Stu

But I gotta tell you, I worked as a nurse & later a nurse-midwife, for 35 years. And I was on my feet all day, sometimes 12-hour shifts or more. And until the sarc hit me at age 51, I still had time & energy to exercise! However, this list exists for support & information regarding neurosarcoidosis, not our own personal or political agendas.
