Guest guest
, I was a lot like you. My BMI was 63 just before surgery, in fact I gained weight while waiting for my surgery date. My energy was non-existent. My knee hurt so much I couldn't walk much and spent a lot of time in bed with my legs elevated (I also have a circulation problem in my legs). I'm retired so no need to get out of bed and get moving. They discovered sleep apnea in my pre-surgery testing. This operation saved my life. I had an open DS, I felt it was a good choice for me. Now I'm 12 1/2 weeks post-0p. Doing great, lost 85 lbs, have tons of energy. My knee is much better, but I still can't walk too much, so I haven't done a lot of exercise. I have a stationery bike which I get on a couple times a week. If you can get tested for sleep apnea, do it. It may help with energy, if you aren't getting good sleep at night. Some signs of sleep apnea is snoring, morning headaches, feeling tired all day even to the point of falling asleep without warning. Good luck. Rita Black10/17/2000 First Consult. How did your surgery go...was there any problems because of no exercise beforehand? was it a more difficult recovery because you couldn't move around alot? Your input is a real help. And, I plan to schedule a sleep apnea test through my pcp soon. thanks again, denise in ny dr gagner sept 10 bmi
