The strangest thing is holding the double pointed needles. Someone said it was like wrestling a porcupine! LOL There's a great tutorial with pictures online. It's free of course. I still go back to look at the pictures sometimes when I forget what to do. I can send you the instructions that I use. They're not fancy with cables like some of the knitting group can do but they're warm.Join our Sock Challenge for Orphans in Kazakhstan - 265 pairs needed by 9/15/07 http://groups. yahoo.com/ group/Mittens_ for_Akkol/ grannylunatic@... Guest guest
I have the same problem. I can knit small medium and large size mittens. All I need is a sock pattern. I use to have a sock pattern that was worked in K2, P2 on 36 stitches and then decrease to 12 stitches and the yarn broken off , ran through stitches and draw into a circle and sew back seam. This is a tube sock pattern. Nice and warm. Sharon L. Schuckman sharupac@... Re: knitting--attn ,lz , I would really love to learn how to knit socks and mittens. Guest guest
Hey, knitting gals!!I just bought a book for my daughter called one skein wonders or something like that and they have mittens and hats and pocketbooks in it. Went through it last night and yeah, I need double-pointed needles too. Joannes fabrics is having 30% off on needles starting today and lasting for a couple of weeks. Thought I'd give it a whirl. My daughter wants to make those fingerless gloves..I'll let you know how I do. It's been a long time since I made anything following a pattern. A sweater for my baby daughter was my last real project. She's now 23!! Bonnie B.See what's new at AOL.com and Make AOL Your Homepage. Guest guest
Oh , I would love to check that out. I will have to get a doublesidded needles though, I don't think that I have any. thanks Lynne Lynne, Sharon & anyone else that wants to knit socks The website with the great picture tutorial is royea.net/sockdemo1/html. There isn't a pattern included but I'll have to check the copyrights with the shop I take classes at before I posted it. There's a free one on Lion Brand Yarn's site called Joans socks that alot of people like. It calls for bigger needles than the Magic Stripe pattern and it's easier to learn, at least for me.Join our Sock Challenge for Orphans in Kazakhstan - 265 pairs needed by 9/15/07 http://groups. yahoo.com/ group/Mittens_ for_Akkol/ grannylunatic@...
