Guest guest
I am in shock and won't believe it totally till I go and pick it up at the pharmacy tomorrow, but they are saying the kids Carnitor is now going to be covered!!!!! Persistance paid off....FINALLY!!! The lady at Sigma-Tau made a call to Cigna and sent over the letter they have been sending over for a year now to no avail. Well, it apparently went to the Medical Director at the company Cigna contracts with for case management and, as he said to her, as soon as it hit his desk, he approved it!! Apparently he has been fighting with Cigna for a while now about the need for them to cover Carnitor and just took over as the medical director for Cigna PPO for Texas, Louisiana and Oklahoma a week ago, and apparently has the authority to approve the coverage!! Regardless of what Cigna wants to do. He says all three kids are approved and that I can go and pick it up at the pharmacy for our normal copay amount!!!! I even have his direct phone number and name and he told the lady at Sigma-Tau to have me call if I have any problems at all. I am shocked at the amount of work the lady at Sigma-Tau did for us....numerous phone calls, faxes and emails. Not sure we would have gotten this to go through without her help!! I have her name and number if anyone here is in need of help with getting their Carnitor....just email me if you need it!! Cannot believe this is finally resolved!! Thanks for the support everyone. -- BIG hugs, Kass, proud mom to Chance(11-Mito), Madison(8-Mito), and Abby(6-Mito) "Life is not measured by the breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away" Unknown

Guest guest
Yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Great news for you guys! Thanks for letting us know. I sure hope the situation will continue to go well and your kids get the meds they really need to be on. We can't imagine not having Asenath or Zipporrah on Carnitor or the other Mito cocktail meds. They make such a difference for them! See www.caringbridge.org/ia/mitomomof9 and this link to see a real look into Mito using a photo collage of my girls at www.heartbeatsformito.org Darla: mommy to Asenath (4) Mito, CNS Vasculitis, strokes, migraines, seizures, G-tube, hypotonicity, disautonomy, SID, dev. delays, asthma, cyclic vomiting... Zipporrah (12 months) Mito, strokes, neuro-motor planning dysfunction, SID, GERD, 100% G-tube fed, asthma, trach issues, aberrant subclavian artery, disautonomy, hypo & hypertonicity, migraines, possible seizures, dumping syndrome, iron deficiency... Luke (16), Leah (14), Rachael (12), Isaac (10), Tirzah (8), Kezia (3), & Marquis (2) (some with Mito symptoms) We got it covered!! was " Problems getting Carnitor " > I am in shock and won't believe it totally till I go and pick it up at > the pharmacy tomorrow, but they are saying the kids Carnitor is now > going to be covered!!!!! Guest guest
Kass, I am so glad to hear that you got the insurance to pay for the Carnitor.I hate to hear that you had to go through all that stress,,just to get them to cover it,,but at least it is covered, now I haven't had a problem getting Logan's paid for,,,but maybe that is because he gets Medicaid, since he is on Social Security disability . Guest guest
Doing the happy dance in Flower Mound!!!! Maybe you should order a bunch from mail-order. I always keep 10 or 12 boxes in my stockpile. I got a letter from Dr. Cook (in response to my Christmas card). It doesn't sound like he will be back to Children's, but there is hope that he will be able to write a report for 's October visit. Evan has totally turned around on thyroid meds and antibiotics for his nasty, nasty cough that last from Thanksgiving til Christmas ( I thought that it was viral because he never had a significant fever). I am still hopeful that 2005 won't be as nasty as 2004 was, but so far not all is good. After the stressful visit with Dr. Chacon, my arthritis in my S-I joint started to flare. Then I threw my back out moving Evan's bed to sweep dust bunnies. I am scheduled to see the surgeon on Thursday. UGH!!!!!!!!
