I can't live without my pASTA, man! ROFL I try to choose stuff with higher protein content (i.e. cheese or meat-stuffed tortellini, etc.) but I've had regular pasta (penne with vodka sauce) and no protein in sight. I personally haven't had any reactions to various pasta dishes although some people might. I've had lasanga (LOVE IT! and also full of protein), spaghetti with meat sauce, stuffed shells/rigatone, tortellini, ravioli... It's seventh heaven! :) I've tried alfredo sauce (which really isn't high in protein although I thought it might be since it IS a cheese sauce! LOL), vodka, various tomato/marinara sauces... no problems at all. If I haven't had much protein during the day, I'll whip up a protein shake at night (or have one in the a.m. for breakfast and not be as concerned about the protein requirement). I try to get about 80 gms/protein a day. If I go under that two days in a row I have a protein drink for one or two days to make up for it. Viva Italia! Eat that pasta and enjoy! all the best, TEresa lap ds with gallbladder removal January 25, 2001 Dr. Gagner/Mt. Through a little chicken on top and you're in good shape. Hull

Yes, with chicken (or tuna or another protein),the alfredo is packed with protein goodness! Another example of something I thought would be higher in protein than it is: cream cheese. It is made from cheese but really doesn't pack the same punch as a few slices of American or other type cheese. Guest guest
Okay... So maybe I'll have to find some Big Sized Depends for a few weeks after surgery? Still worth it! -- Re: ?/pasta heaven > so it is almost 100% fat >>>> > in that case, enjoy it! you wont absorb enough to make a difference! > Umm.. might want to be near a potty, though, if you're very early postop (wondered why that wonderful alfredo sent me straight to the bathroom..!).. Dr Atkins considers this the ideal ratio for weight loss (for those without surgery). I am quite happy to learn that pasta goes down OK though, cause I just love italian food. I get to much protien in my diet, so this is going to be the perfect procedure for me. I generally like to aviod vegatables on moral grounds - at least animals can run away, the poor plants don't have a chance (LOL), but I do make an exception for pasta and bread. Just to good to give up. Hull

LOL Yeah, I still haven't had problems with pasta, noodles, rice, etc... but I started eating all these things after three weeks post-op. I still love certain veggies -- problem is I tend to love the ones high in starches (agh! Carrots, peas, etc.).... all the best,
