Guest guest
Thanks for the welcome notes. We see Dr. J. Romano II in Plantation, Florida (near Ft. Lauderdale). I'm almost sure he is already on Dr. Ponseti's list. We are very happy with the treatment so far - we go to get cast 4 tomorrow. At our last visit another patient walking by saw us and stopped in to show us her 7 month old son's foot. It looked great! We can't wait until we are at that point. The other day my wife and I were wondering about the variuos ways having the DBB/FAB will change our baby experience. I assume we will have to return the " exersaucer " we received as a shower gift since we can't put his feet through the holes. Are there other situations like this we haven't thought about and are there some good alternatives? Thanks, - Staci, and Cade (8-11-05, left cf) > Welcome, Staci, & Cade! > We're glad you joined us! Guest guest
I'm glad you're happy with Dr. Romano. I do think he's on Dr. P's list as well. No, you don't have to return your exersaucer! It would only be a hassle during the full time brace wear for 3 months. I'm not sure how old Cade will be when he goes into the brace for the first time, but you won't be using the exersaucer until he's at least ~4 months old- and they use it for quite some time beyond that- so he should be using it when he's beyond the fulltime brace wear stage also (that is if he likes it- some babies don't take to those exersaucers!). I used to put my daughter in it even with the brace on when I was really motivated. I would just undo one shoe, slip the brace and the other foot through the holes, then put the shoe back on. One seamstress mom even modified her exersaucer's seat so that the fabric between the legs opened up and snapped back together. Yes, it's a pain to try to use certain products that have a permanent bar or strap between the legs (i.e. restaurant high chairs, shopping carts, some swings etc.), but it's not an issue for most babies since they start treatment from birth and are done with their full-time wear of the brace prior to being able to sit up anyway. For the kids who start treatment at an older age (like mine did), you can still use those things- you just have to resign yourself to take the time to undo the brace and refasten it again...or find other options for those 3 months. Hope this helps!

Guest guest
You may not have to return the exersaucer. We have a Hop and Pop, which is similar, and our son has been able to use it plenty. We use it during his time out of the shoes and it is great for his feet because he bears more weight on them. I know three months seems like a long time for the 23 hours a day of shoe wearing, but it goes by so quickly. My son is 9 months old, and is out of his shoes 8 hours a day now. He loves his Hop and Pop. The one thing we bought is a high chair that attaches to any chair. We go out quite a bit with our families, and go over to friends and basically everywhere. We decided to get this chair instead of a regular high chair for that reason. We can bring it with us, and regardless of the time of day, or if Aelksander is in his shoes, we always know he will be able to use the chair. Plus, we know the chair and tray are clean, and he behaves more when he's in his own chair. That may be something to look into. It is also reasonable! Clothing is going to be the biggest issue. Finding sleep and plays without the built in feet can be a challenge, although I've noticed now that there are TONS more options for footless bottoms. Good luck! > > Welcome, Staci, & Cade! > > We're glad you joined us! Like ee, I'd like to know what doctor > > you're seeing! Guest guest
I also think about these kinds of things. I returned the jonny jump-up swing we got, but now my husband is thinking about cutting open the botton of exersaucer seat and putting in a big piece of velcro. I don't know if it will work or not. It is a had me down, so I guess it won't hurt to try. I'll let you know if it does. I also think about restaurant high chairs and shopping carts. I'm glad to have this group to ask questions to. Guest guest
Welcome to the group! I will say that your baby experience will still be wonderful for you and your baby. uses his exersaucer and jumperoo daily and has since he was 3 months old. We have the adjustable bar, so we just take it apart put him in and then back together. Plus, they are only in 23/7 for 3 months, so if you start treatment early, by the time your little one is ready for these things, the bar will only be on 18 hours a day. The one annoyance we have is with high chairs in restaurants. is long for 9 1/2 months, but we sometimes still tote our infant carrier with us, so he can sit in that while we eat. Good luck to you! 11/19/04 Re: Hi, new to group... (plus a question about the DBB) Thanks for the welcome notes. We see Dr. J. Romano II in Plantation, Florida (near Ft. Lauderdale). Guest guest
Hi Staci, and Cade Our son is also being treated with Dr. Romano too. He has been on 4 casts started from when he was 2 weeks old and now on his 3 months with the FAB(23/7). So far we have a very good progress and I'm quite happy about it. We've found his name on Dr.P's list. Hope that Cade will have beautiful feet soon!! Som, Shinobu and Ty (3-24-05 right cf) > > Welcome, Staci, & Cade! > > We're glad you joined us!
