Guest guest
Mimiwilder: Have you spoken to your program doctors? I haven't heard of this before. I'm 2.5 years out, and I don't have a similar issue, but I'd be interested to hear others input on this. Sorry I can't be of more help. When you talk to the doctor, please let us know what you find out. Best of luck to you. Guest guest
In what way do you feel " yucky " ? Are you lightheaded? Lethargic? Or, is it other problems? I'm also about 1 ½ years post-op (actually 19 months) and I've got a similar problem; however, I think my problem might be related to my diabetes (that's supposedly under control). I'm finding that I now need to eat nearly every 4 hours, or I get lightheaded and weak feeling. It's worse if I exercise, then I need to eat sooner. I've tested my blood sugar after 4 hours and often it's as low as 70 to 80. After 5 hours it has gotten lower. I find it impossible for me to get by with ONLY three meals a day, as my surgeon has recommended. The problem for me is that when I go to eat something to make me feel better, my " head hunger " takes over and I tend to eat too much. This is very frustrating for me because I really want to loose an additional 40 pounds. I know I just need to plan ahead and spread my calories out into my meals & snacks. This has been very weird because when I started this journey, I was having high blood sugars, now I'm having low BS's! Oy veh! --Sandi H. Guest guest
Sandi: You know, I can't go more than 4 - 5 hours without eating either. I have breakfast at 8.30 - 9 AM Lunch at about 1 PM Snack at 5 PM (2 cups of flavored 1% milk--I flavor it myself) Dinner at 7 PM I can't go off this schedule too much or I get WAY TOO hungry. And WAY TOO hungry = bad choices. Between meals, when I feel hungry, I drink. Warm beverages like decaf tea and coffee help me too. Chicken broth is also a nice inbetween meal snack. Yum. But if I have to have a snack (to eat), I eat protein. For me, waiting longer than 5 hours is just not possible. Guest guest
I feel that way all the time, since very early post op. Prilosec helps. I guess I should ask...yucky how? Abdominal pain? Or weak and shaky? I have the pain thing. Eating helps for a short time. It is believed I have an ulcer. Prilosec is an acid reducer. Also I take Carafate, to coat the pouch. Guest guest
I have a memory of reading something a while back (maybe on OSSG- Grads?)about a few WLS post-ops who developed problems with severe hypoglycemia. It appeared to be rather rare, but it might be worth doing some research on - my memory is that they were reported from the Mayo Clinic, but I don't remember much more than that. Cathy C.
