Internship Coordinator Position AvailableMISSION: Founded in 1992, SAF is a non-profit organization based in Durham, North Carolina that brings students and farmworkers together to learn about each other's lives, share resources and skills, improve conditions for farmworkers, and build diverse coalitions working for social change. SAF coordinates summer internships and fellowships, campus organizing, leadership development of farmworker youth, community education and outreach. www.saf-unite.orgSTAFF SIZE: 5 full-time, 1 part-time, and 30 summer interns & fellows

ANNUAL BUDGET: $450,000

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Coordinate Into the Fields Summer Internship and Leadership Development Program for up to 30 college students working with farmworker agencies in the Carolinaso Develop recruitment, application and other materials for internship programo Develop collaborative relationships with university and campus groupso Educate students about farmworker issueso Recruit applicants for internshipo Assist with fundraising for internship programo Coordinate intern interview and selection processo Coordinate process of matching selected interns with appropriate field placementso Coordinate interns' summer housing, travel, and other logisticso Coordinate weeklong intern orientation and 2 weekend trainingso Recruit sponsoring organizations to host interns & plan annual sponsor trainingo Conduct site visits, mentor, and communicate with interns on ongoing basiso Communicate with partner farmworker organizations and campus contacts on ongoing basiso Support interns' documentary projects and participation in SAF's theater groupo Keep track of interns' paperwork and summer responsibilitieso Coordinate evaluation of internship programSKILLS / QUALIFICATIONSo Bachelor's degreeo Commitment to farmworker justiceo Mentoring, coaching, or supervision experience with college studentso Able to juggle multiple taskso Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail o Experience in coordinating student internship, community service, or volunteer projectso Experience recruiting and/or working with a diverse group of young peopleo Ability to handle unexpected and emergency situations with internso Ability to work independently and take initiativeo Willingness to travel in NC & SCo Valid driver's licenseo Ability to work collaboratively with other individuals and organizationso Flexibleo Bicultural and excellent written and oral communication skills in Spanish & Englisho Theater and/or documentary skills (preferred)o Computer skills on Macintosh (preferred)o Former Into the Fields intern or from farmworker family (preferred)HOURS OF WORK: 40 hours/week; flexible schedule Monday - Friday with some weekend and overnight travelSALARY & BENEFITS: $27,000+ depending on experience, plus benefits (health, dental & vision insurance fully covered, retirement, 3 weeks vacation, 13 holidays, and 12 days personal/sick leave)START DATE: mid to late September 2007
