Guest guest
I am wondering -- I know that most people have a large amount of hair loss around the 3 month post-op, I wondered about nail breakage and skin dryness & /or break-outs. What has been people's experiences with these things. gail Hi Gail, I was switched 2-12-2001. I have not suffered any hair thinning/loss. I recently had a major break-out on my chest and face and my formally beautiful nails are just now splitting and breaking horribly. I have been trying to keep them short with a calcium clear polish to help make nails healthy to no avail. I'm at wits end - I have no clue what to do. I have been taking 100mg's of zinc per day -- maybe that has prevented the hair loss?? Guest guest
Hi Resa, I just read your response to Gail's question. I wonder if you and I are the only ones with this skin problem. Are you going to see a Dermatologist? Is it little bitty bumps? Mine started on my forehead, is real bad at the temples, b ehind the ears on the neck and spread down the chest and now across my shoulders. Will others please respond if you have any experience with this??? Please. Thanks, Joann in Mobile Dr. Kim, Ocean Springs, MS 4/20/01 -

Guest guest
Sheryl, Steve and a C. THANK YOU very much for responses about the break out. I'm so happy to hear that it will go away soon that I could cry! Glad I signed back on before I went to bed. Joann in Mobile
Guest guest
Gail, I didn't have much hair loss unil the end of the fifth month and feel like I am soon going to be bald (even though I started out with a thick head of hair). It is now 8 months out! I had a really hard time eating until recently maybe even seven months out so I know for a fact that I just couldn't get my protein in for most months prior. I am starting to wonder if that's the true cause of why I have such a lose. I just had a hard time eating with my stomach and continue to struggle getting in my protein due to lack of appetite (every thing still seems gross to me)..... My nails have had no problems so far:) I know it will grow back and I was a 100 pounds heavier with great hair I'd rather the loss than the hair anyday.....Good luck and hang in there Brigid
Guest guest
hi Joann: I had surgery 2/19/01 and have had two break-outs so far. And yes, tons of little bumps on the forehead and the temples...the chest. It is a sideeffect of the surgery that I was aware of. My understanding: it is caused by the release of hormones formally stored in the fat cells. Feeling like 16 again Jo > Hi Resa, > I just read your response to Gail's question.
