Guest guest
My darling daughter gave me her cold and I've been miserable. I think it's starting to pass since I had the urge to say "HEY" and to glance at mail. I found titles from vampires to recycling to pooping. What have I been missing? I'm heading back to bed. Hope to have the energy to read this crazy collection of emails tomorrow night. Hope the bed bugs DON'T bite. We've had at least 2 apartments in the building become invaded by these creepy critters. Does anyone know of something I can use to keep them from getting in mine? The owners didn't even tell us about it and wouldn't pay for the second case getting an exterminator. GRRRRRRRRR I did read an article about steaming them out. Hope y'all have a pain free day! Guest guest
, The only thing I know you can do is vacuum a lot (even your mattress) and wash you bedding often (at least once a week). Terri G. PS Hope you get feeling better; I had an upper respiratory infection around the 10th of Sept and it kicked my booty > > My darling daughter gave me her cold and I've been miserable. Guest guest
, I looked under "bedbugs" in my search engine, and there is lots of info out there. I was surprised & alarmed to learn that bedbugs can be picked up in motels/hotels when traveling! Anyway, I read several sites, and it doesn't sound like there is a quick & easy way to prevent or get rid of them. Here is a section from one site that gave a simple explanation. The same steps will help to prevent them. I would think that your landlord would be responsible for treating the whole building. Maybe you can get a note from your doctor. Controlling a bedbug infestationHigh standards of hygiene and housekeeping alone are unlikely to control an infestation. However, keeping a house clean will reveal the presence of bedbugs at an early stage, making control easier and reducing the chance of widespread infestation. Some general suggestions to eliminate bedbugs include: Thoroughly wash, vacuum or clean all surfaces and bedding. Wash bedding and affected clothing where possible, using hot water. Dry in a clothes drier on a hot setting. Vacuum mattresses, seal in dark plastic and leave outside in the hot sun for as long as possible. Steam clean carpets. Spray common hiding spots with a surface insecticide registered to control bedbugs. Follow the label directions carefully. Do not treat bedding with insecticide. Your local council can offer information and advice on dealing with a bedbug infestation.Hiring a professional pest control operatorA qualified pest control operator can determine the extent of the infestation, then use registered insecticides to kill the bedbugs. Repeat visits may be necessary to ensure all bedbugs at various stages of the lifecycle have been eradicated. Good hygiene practices, such as frequent house cleaning, should help to prevent any further infestations. However, vacuuming immediately after treatment should be avoided to ensure that the residual insecticide is not removed. For further information, consult your pest control operator. Speaking of bedbugs, I was trying to remember a poem we used to say as kids. It was about a baseball game between cooties & bedbugs. I think it ended something like this: The score was four to nothing, the cooties were ahead, then the bedbugs scored a home run, and kicked me out of bed! Anybody remember the rest of it? I hate to see great literature die. Ramblin' RoseModerator A merry heart is good medicine. Proverbs 17:22 Explore the seven wonders of the world Learn more! Guest guest
Hi , I am in the same boat as far as the bad cold is....my darling son gave it to me almost two weeks ago and I am still coughing, going thru a box of tissues and using my nebulizer. Also being put on pred. ( I saw my dr. about it last week.) It just won't pass out of my lungs. I just got back on yesterday. Know how you feel. Concerning the bugs, all I have heard is to just keep washing the bedding in HOT water and vacumming as much as possible. Debbie T.
