It is amazing how my tastes have changed does > anyone one else notice changes in taste? > Yes, I do notice this , but not in entirely predictable ways. I'm now 9 weeks out, and my tastes have changed enormously - several times! A week or two ago, I wrote about craving non-diet cokes as the only thing that settled my stomach, and I was drinking almost one a day. Strangely, prior to surgery, I rarely drank sodas at all. Well, about 2 days after writing about this, my craving abruptly ceased, and I haven't had a soda since. Also, I'd never had a major sweet tooth, but prior to surgery I did enjoy chocolate upon occasion. Since surgery, one bite of a chocolate eclair has completely satisfied my single chocolate craving. Another example of change in taste: I live in the San Fran Bay Area, and the SF Mission District has tacquerias with the best burritos in the world, I'd venture. Very distinctive! Anyway, prior to surgery I'd have a burrito from my fave place 2-3 times a week. Since surgery, I've craved one *daily* and thought this was the only thing I could not possibly give up post-DS! However, I hadn't tried it since the meat and spices seemed possibly a bit rough s/p gastroplasty. Anyway, yesterday I ventured it. Got my favorite carnitas, with only a touch of chile sauce. And you know what? I've been munching on it ever since, but it's just not what I recall.... Oh, well. Guess I'll be saved some time looking for parking near the place... *g* One more comment about changing tastes, and that regards the *terrible* change in olfactory sensation after surgery. 9 weeks out, and, while it's improved somewhat, the terrible change in odors persists and has just been unreal! I will literally *gag* from an odor I happen upon, and friends around me say they can't smell a thing. This has been a source of a lot of my taste changes -- things just don't smell good any more, and instead have become positively repugnant. I've noticed a few other people on the list mention going through this and my question is: when has this finally abated for folks??? Thanks in advance. - SC
