Guest guest
Hello everyone. I have just been introduced to your support group, and I'm really excited. I have Kaiser insurance and am pre- surgery. As of yet, I do not have a surgery date although I have been approved for the surgery and have all my pre-testing completed. In order to schedule my surgery date, I have to lose 10% of my body weight. The surgeon's office will not even schedule until I'm within 10 pounds of my goal weight and then I MUST lose that ten pounds by the day of surgery. In addition to this, I had to quit smoking. My quit smoking date was October 18th, 2005. For this, I am very proud of myself, and feel much better just from quitting smoking alone. Having said that, it has been ten times harder for me to lose the required 10% weight. In fact, when they weighed me in the surgeon's office my weight was 294. They set my required weight at 265. Since I left the office that day, I have actually gained weight! So, now I need to lose the extra weight I've gained in addition to the required weight. I'm frustrated. I've been on Weight Watchers for 2 weeks now, solemenly sticking to it, and if you can believe this, I have gained TWO pounds! I'm at my wit's end!! I broke down today. I just want to get to the point that I am able to have the surgery. I don't know what's happening. It's almost like quitting smoking slowed my metabolism so much that I can't lose weight even on a 1200 calorie diet. I'm not really looking for any advice. Maybe just some support. I'm fed up with myself and with my weight. I just want to lose the weight I need to lose in order to get to my surgery date. Please keep me in your prayers. I'm 32 years young, and have so much to look forward to once my body is transformed into an active, healthy, fit vehicle. Thank you for having this support group. I watch your messages every day and find things that constantly apply to me.

Guest guest
Hi - welcome to the group. I was where you are only a few weeks ago. But just keep following the 1200 cal diet or WW and it will work. Hang in there and know you DO have the support of all of us. PEGGY > > Hello everyone. Guest guest
: Welcome to the group! I'm Francisco, and I'm 2 years, 8 months post-op. I've lost 153 lbs, and I've kept it off for almost 1.5 years! You know, I struggled with the 1200 caloried plan too. I suggest that remind yourself every day, every hour, every minute if need be, that you are worth this effort. It's strange. You reminded me of my first days on the 1200 plan. I had forgotten that at first I gained a quarter of a pound my first week. I was devastated. But I didn't give up. I refocused (while I was on a cruise no less), and I lost 8 lbs the next week. Let the love that you have for yourself be the guide in making the right choices for yourself. All of us post-op here lost the weight when, at times, we didn't think it was possible. We are here to support you because we understand all-too-well what you're going through. Don't give up on you. You quit smoking and that's HUGE. Now, you're on your way to a new life that you deserve. Tell yourself that you deserve this gift, and sooner or later (hopefully not too much later) you will come to believe that you DO INDEED deserve this surgery. Then your choices and behavior will fall in line with your beliefs. You can do it! You really can! Again, welcome to our circle of support. We're here for you. Francisco > > Hello everyone. Guest guest
Hi Francisco, Thanks so much. I have so many other questions and I'm ecstatic I've found this group, particularly since everyone here has either gone through what I will go through, or are going through it with me. Gosh... Guest guest
Hi , Welcome to our little group. You made the right decision when you decided to have the surgery now you need to get down to business with the 10 %. even though there are some here that say they didn't use the 1200 calorie meal plan that is in our file section I did use it and it does work. The reason why is a good plan to use is because it really does prepare you for your reality check as to how you are going to be eating in the beginning after surgery. One of the things that you really have to do is weigh and measure everything that you eat. One thing that we think is that we think we know what a normal serving size is and we really don't. It is so easy to get off track just by eyeballing the serving size. Start drinking that water also. If you are not exercising you need to start. There is nothing like this combination to stir up the metabolism and you will see positive results. I thought that I could never lose weight and I lost my 10 % in 3 months 40 pounds. So good luck and keep asking questions. Ramona
