Hi Lizbeth-- Mostly I was off line, too much pain when I sit up for long

periods-- but I also started hanging out at the DS_USC group-- less

contention, and a lot of smart post-ops. I try to check back in with

this list and the other couple I sniff around-- but I seem to have lost

track of most of the participants I was familiar with-- However, Now

that I am staring down the barrel of the loaded DS surgery shotgun,

support is becoming more important!

My Panni incision came apart, no big surprise there, but we decided to

use a VAC machine to help move the closure along, so I ended up stuck in

USC's version of a convalescent hospital for three weeks to manage the

machinery, the dressing changes (requires Morphine, really painful

because the sponge thingy that the suction hose is in sticks like crazy

to the wound edges)-- horrible food, no cable TV, like being in prison .

BUT, the upside is the incision was 31 inches long and 5-6 inches deep

and in the three weeks, it shrank to 31 inches and 2 inches deep. Not to

mention the 20 additional pounds I lost because the lousy food actually

succeeded in putting me off my feeds- something that only love gone wrong

ever did in the past ( well, for about 6 hours maybe). Now, at 8 weeks

out, it is 29 inches and a half to one inches deep. I go back to Dr. A

on 8/20 and we should be setting a date for the DS then.

How's it going with you?

Nan E., waiting in CA for the Big surgery.
