Guest guest
Loretta, I am so glad to hear from you. I don't know if you will remember me, but I met you on Wednesday evening in Chicago, waiting around in front of where Dr. H was doing her check-ups. My son, was in the stroller that and Connor was having fun playing with. I have a picture of the three of them together that is just precious. I would love to email it to you if you would like. If you would, email me at rollison @core.com. Anyway, to my point! LOL! ) I am so glad to hear that is doing so well. She definitely is a cutey and I think was quit smitten with her, as she was the only one the whole time we were in Chicago that he was happy to be around! LOL. He is such a funny guy. I think he was a little overwhelmed with all the people around as time went on. He had fun playing with her and Connor, too. I hope that all goes well for you guys and that your insurance will approve the ght without any trouble. So, cool on the potty training thing. How, or what is she doing to train herself? is doing well with his potty. Every time I am in there, he sits on his and says, " I go potty, Momma. I go potty. " It is too cute. I guess I will just have to buckle down and really get on it because maybe he is ready. I just don't know what I will do at night since he has his tube. But, I guess we could do pull-ups at night for a while. I am so glad to hear from you and I hope you can email me so I can send you those cute pictuers! ) Talk to you soon, Jodi R. > Hello everyone, > Welcome to all the new people here. Guest guest
Loretta, I was reading your post regarding and possibly beginning GHT. soon. Just wanted to add my two cents worth. 's weight seems to be still low for an RSS two year old. My son wasn't able to begin ght until he had adequate catch-up growth. For him to do that he required a feeding tube placed when he was 18 months old weighing only 15 pounds and he also takes periactin. He was finally able to start ght when he was just shy of three once he had grown more. Please don't take this message the wrong way, I just want to share our experience. Once you begin ght you need even more calories to keep up with the extra growth. Without his g-tube this would not have been possible. I know my son is growing at something like twice the normal rate, this requires extra calories. I'm not saying you need a g-tube for , I just want you to be aware of the extra calories she will need to take in. Again, just wanted to share our exerience. Alison > Hello everyone, > Welcome to all the new people here. I do not get to post much, but > want to let you know how has been doing. > She will be 2 next month. Guest guest
Hi Alison, Thanks for the reply. I was not offended by your concerns and experience. Dr. H. did mention the G-tube and nissen if the change in the periactin administration did not give her a bust after 3 mos. The conflict is with my endo .here. She wants to use the tab form and feels weather it is the liquid or tab. it is not going to be enough without the ght. She does not want to use a feeding tube since she eats well on her own and cause other issues with feeding etc. What is considered adequate caloric catch-up growth? I am now again uneasy about if we are doing the right or best thing for . I just pray to God that he helps us to choice what is best for her. Thanks for the food for thought. Guest guest
Loretta, I wish I could tell you just exactly what made Dr. H say Jake had reached adequate catch-up growth. I'm not sure what her magical formula is...maybe someone else on the board can help out here. I can tell you that Jake was two months shy of 3 years old and was 84 cm in length and weighed 23 pounds when he began GHT. In just 20 months he has gained 8 pounds and a little over 6 inches in length. I also wanted to add that Jake has a g-tube, but only uses it at night when he sleeps. He eats three meals a day, plus snacks. We pretend he doesn't have a tube during the day, because we worked way to hard to let him slip and take the easy way out. Ha! (Unless he is sick, then we use it during the day!) So, a g-tube can be used on a limited basis if need be. Best of luck in your decision, you will make the right one. Parents always have to stick to their intuition....it never fails us! Alison > > > Hello everyone, > > > Welcome to all the new people here. Guest guest
Loretta- I so glad to hear that is doing well. I know that our Endo will not consider GH for Pippin because he feels her catch up growth has not stopped yet...Dr H agrees. She also is on the GT mostly at night and only 3x per day for only 45 min after meals. Go with your gut, I still question if getting Pippin the GT was the correct decision... Once she starts eating better orally, we will offer periactian. I don't want to make her hungry...and then have her not be able to eat...for some reason she doesn't like to swallow anything without the consistency of refried beans, yogurt, mashed pot...etc..but every week with her feeding therapy she's getting better. I figure by the time she's 2 she'll be on it But more importantly Pippin is also wanting to potty train lately! Did these 2 girls get a plan together in Chicago? (lol) Nobody can go to the potty in our house without Pippin running in and sitting herself down...and then she insists on sitting on the big potty! It is too funny! Pippin is attending Early Intervention Preschool again this year and is really doing well. She goes 2x per week for an hour and 25 minutes. Guest guest
Hi! Congrats on the growth! As for a small belt, I had the same problem with my son who is non RSS/SGA but is small and very skinny. We would buy a small boys leather belt and poke our own holes into it where they are needed or find one you can cut and adjust to the size you need. WE also often puchased pants with a built in belt or adjustment strap...some jeans are now made with these and are great! My son is 6 and is also in Kindergarten. When we started the Periactin she weighed 13# 15oz - today we went in for a weight check and was 14# 10oz - AMAZING!!! She did actually have some severe reflux once I started the Periactin - so I called the Dr. and we started her on Zantac - not one incident since. By the way - her dose for Zantac is .6ml 2X/day - does this sound correct? I just wanted to share the good news! Jane, mom to 13 months 14# 10oz, 26 " , Periactin, Zantac - Gavin 4 and Aidan 2. Guest guest
Hey Jenyfer, Glad to hear from you. I was not pleased with the 2 oz. wt gain because she usually averages about 6 oz./mo. but she is more active and she has had the sinus drainage that is makimg her vomit at night, plus the ear infections, soooo i guess it was not to bad at least she gained. I hope next month is a larger increase to help me feel better that the periactin and genotropin gh is affective. How is everyone adjusting to little, or should I say, big guy Ryker. Rest up now because you will need all the energy you can get in a few months and years from now. busy, busy, busy! Really ihope you are well. A big cyber hug to your cuties too. take care Loretta Re: update on > > > Hi Loretta- > > I'm glad to hear that is doing so well...I'm anxious to go to > Pippins 2year check up to make our decision on GH.
