Guest guest
My son has always woken up 2 or 3 times a night and I have always blamed his FAB then coincidently he got a new pair of shoes about 6 weeks ago and I also noticed one day that he had ALL of his teeth through and he suddenly started sleeping completely through the night. So now I don't know if he has always had teething problems and now its gone or we have finally got a pair of shoes just right. Now with the lighter mornings he does tend to wake up early (sometimes 5.30/6.30 and has gone to 7.30am) and is ready to start the day - but I can cope with that more that getting up all night wondering what is wrong........ If he gets up at 6.30 I usually manage to get to work on time so that is a bonus!!! Rach, Steve & Connor age 27 months. -- Re: Update on Yeah! Good for you!! Guest guest
hahahaha! It's funny, with my first child we blamed every crankiness, every bout of crying every sleepless night on teething. With and his year of castings and s, we blame that. I guess I will never know what a full night of sleep is again until they are out of the house! But I did find there was an adjustment period both with the castings, the first two nights after new casts he would always wake every half hour, as well as with the shoes, that took about a week to get used to. Now? he won't go to bed without them on. > > Hi all, > > My (18 weeks) received his Ponseti AFO ( > sandals > > and bar) yesterday. What a difference from the markells!! Guest guest
- I'm so happy you are both getting some sleep now. Isn't it amazing how a different pair or shoes can make a world of difference! I hope you don't think I'm picky, but I did want to point out that the Sandals and bar are actually a FAB (foot abduction brace) and not an AFO. Ponseti is really against AFO's and believes they do no good in regards to clubfoot. I just don't want any newbies reading the post to get confused. > Hi all, > My (18 weeks) received his Ponseti AFO ( sandals > and bar) yesterday. What a difference from the markells!! Guest guest
Just a quick comment on referring to the mitchell FAB as an AFO - the instruction sheet I got with Livi's shoes calls it something like an AFO foot abduction brace, and repeatedly refers to it as such - as in " place the foot into the AFO shoe " or something like that. I don't have it in front of me, but it basically says the brace is AFO's attached to a FAB. I think they need to refer to them that way to get them classified as AFO's for insurance. I thought it was interesting when they came. But obviously good point - wouldn't want anyone to confuse a regular AFO with this brace! Guest guest
That's great news that is happy in his new shoes, it must be such a relief for you. We didn't have any real problems with the Markell shoes after the first 2 days, but many people do, which is why Dr Ponseti worked with on these shoes. Dr Ponseti told me that they are aiming for comfort and ease of transition for the babies that have difficulties. Glad that you didn't have any problems with the Markell shoes. Our story was a nightmare with them. I'm SO HAPPY that there is an alternative to the Markells for us. is as happy as ever in his shoes and the most important thing is that he is NOT able to get out of them. Dr Ponseti told me that they are aiming for comfort and ease of transition for the babies that have difficulties. They're definately comfortable. Dr. (' doctor) called Dr. Ponseti and they spoke about the problems that Nick was having with the Markells. We sent him photos of Nick's feet. Dr. Ponseti told us the reason he was escaping out of his Markells was because Nick has an abnormally flat heel on his club foot side. Sounds like they are achieving that!
