Re: What Is Your Sleeping Pattern?

Over the last several months, my sleep has gotten totally turned around also. I'm up until 1-3 am, then off to bed-- sleep until 11 or 12-- then nap thru the afternoon-- and up most the night. I'm sure it is the meds-- but I'm trying not to go back on Ambien-- so am working with a new program with my DC to get my metabolism back into sync.

I'll be letting all of you know about it when I am more comfortable explaining it. For me, I'm still in the "learning" phase. At least the house is quiet enough at 3am to read!

Hugs,

Bobblehead Ronnie,

I sleep about the same hours as Tracie. I go to bed between 1 and 3 a.m. and sleep off and on until about 11 a.m. Then I take a nap from about 2 until 4 or 5 p.m. I've tried to get on a "normal" sleep schedule, but when I go to bed at midnight or a little earlier, I just lay there and toss and turn. I don't know how to get on a better schedule!

Hugs,

Bobblehead in UT

Hello,

Have any of you undergone a sleep study? I went through one in July which I was told was okay but when I went for my last IV appointment they told me I have moderate to severe sleep apnea which I have an appointment later today. I do not have trouble sleeping just feel a lot of times that I do not sleep well or go through the right REMs.

Here's a topic close to home. My sleep was all over the place while

I was on high doses of Cellcept. A typical day was in bed by 10pm,

back up by 3AM, then an afternoon nap for an hour or so. I was

exhausted but couldn't sleep...cellcept is notorious for causing

insomnia.

Now that I'm off of the cellcept, I get more sleep. Usually, I'm in

bed by 8PM, up at 5:30AM for work, then I take a 2-3 hour nap when I

get home around 3PM.

Hi Ron,My sleep is awful. I usually sleep from around 7pm to 9pm. Then again from MN to around 2am. Then nap during the day. My body feels exhausted but about 4 hours is my total. God bless you ,Beckyanewronald@... wrote:

I sleep about 10-12 hrs. I have to be up about 17-18 hrs. to sleep well. So add this up and you know that my sleeping hours gradually move around the clock. To day I got up at 3 am...tomorrow I'll probably be up around 5 or 6 am. The next day a couple of hours later. It's been like this for about 6-7 years...ever since I got sick. I take pain pills, ibuprofen, Valerian root and a sleeping pill so I can sleep soundly. Otherwise my legs are jumping around all over the place and I am in pain and it wakes me up. Sleep disorders are common with people with continuing illnesses. S.anewronald@... wrote: What hours do you sleep? I am curious. I tend to go to sleep around 4-5:00am and sleep until 5:00pm. Kat,

I've gone thru 2 sleep studies, and have developed severe sleep apnea. I do have both oxygen and cpap at night, and if i want a good nap-- I use it during the day. I know several of our members were so severe that they had to use BPAP 24/7.

It has made such a difference in my sleep, and when my hormones and metabolism isn't so whacked out-- it works great.

With sleep apnea, you don't get the deep sleep (Stage 4) rems-- so you don't dream. This is also the most healing phase of sleep-- so we stay sick.

It continues to amaze me that we have people tell us we're ok-- only to have the next MD look at the same study and tell us we're in serious trouble.

The other problem with sleep apnea is not only that it is complicated by weight gain-- but also causes heart problems and diabetes. Hmmm, you think the chronic inflammation and pain is part of this picture also????

Take care,

Hi Tracie,

Thanks for the information. I went for my appointment today and they said my sleep problem was hidden. But they also realize I have to undergo the sleep study with the mask as it was not done the first time as there was not enough time to start it up. I know it can cause heart problems and a bunch of other medical problems but that I should obviously try to lose weight but that the cpap machine is first and foremost and the weight loss second as I have gained weight obviously from all the prednisone IVs and pills.

I have no idea how much a cpap machine costs. I hope the insurance picks up a lot of it.

Kat,

Cpaps and the supplies are covered by insurance. You "lease" the machine, and if something goes wrong- they bring out a new one right away. I've only had one problem with mine, and I've been on it for 7 yrs.
