Hi Everyone:

I have been in the SSF kaiser since I was accepted into the program.

Today I received a letter stating that they will be short on surgery

appointments since two of the surgeons are leaving. So now I have been

transferred to Kaiser of Richmond. I would appreciate a response from

anyone who has had their surgery there to let me know how the staff

is, and how the surgery went. Which surgeon they had and all

experiences.

Thanks

Sassy

Hi Sassy! I had my surgery through Richmond on 5/24/05 with Dr.

Baggs. He's absolutely wonderful. My entire experience at Richmond

was great. The only thing I didn't like was Richmond made you lose

10% of your body weight (no exceptions) before they would schedule

your surgery. From what I had heard, other facilities like SSF did

not require you to lose the entire 10% (Dr. Stiles would set the

goal and many people only had to lose 10 pounds) and Richmond would

schedule your surgery when you were within 5-10 pounds of your pre-

surgery goal weight. In hindsight, the requirement for losing 10% no

matter what was a good one. I was so ready for the surgery by the

time I actually got my date. I was calm and at peace and very

relaxed when they wheeled me into the OR. I had a complication free

surgery.

Orientation: 330

Surgery: 294

Goal: 168

Height: 5'11 "

Only 19 pounds to go!

Hi Tina, Thanks for the reply. It helps to hear good things about another hospital. I'm just a little apprehensive, since I thought it was going to be done in SSF, and I have grown used to the bariatric team there. Now I have to go to an unknown place to have it done. Just makes me feel kinda lost. SassyTina wrote: Hi Sassy! I had my surgery through Richmond on 5/24/05 with Dr. Baggs. He's absolutely wonderful. My entire experience at Richmond was great. Sassy I had surgery in Richmond on April 11th, 2005. I loved the program, staff, surgeons I had Dr. Baggs, but Dr. Park assisted and I've met Dr. Fisher. They are great, the hospital stay is short and all went well except on shift the nurses weren't so on top of it. All went well and I would do it again there in a minute. Take care.
