Provided the baby's feet were corrected properly to begin with, FAB is fitting

correctly, adjusted correctly, is not rubbing blisters or forming pressure

sores, you are right - it's a bad idea to keep taking them off. Not only are

you compromising his treatment, you are teaching the baby that he can easily get

rid of the annoying shoes by crying...actually, he is teaching you! haha

Continue to try teaching the baby to move his feet together and try to distract

him from the idea that they annoy him.

I don't know... My son hasn't gotten to the DBB yet... but from everything I

have heard I don't think its a good idea to keep taking it off though.

and sleeping has been a nightmare! Ive tried everything from the tips

and tricks file. we take turns sleeping with her and she wakes every

ten minutes crying until finally around 4 am for our sanity we take it

off. Then she is all smiles and sleeps great. What do we do????? She

is fine in the day. Ive given her tylenol but I dont want that to be

habit:) I dont want to keep taking it off, when does it get easier?

Thanks guys, Sheilah

Our son had problems sleeping at first too. We knew the shoes were

fine because during the day he was fine. We had to give a time limit

for crying when he was in the shoes. We'd let him cry for a bit

before checking on him, just to make sure he wasn't crying to get us

to come up. I know there are differing opinions about whether or not

you should do this, but it worked for us for both the shoes and for

other things....he's been sleeping 10 - 12 hours every night without

a peep for around 4 - 5 months now (he's 9 months now).

In any case, if the feet don't have any redness, and your child is

fine when awake, I'm guessing when she's sleeping she moves

involuntarily and her instincts haven't picked up on how to move

yet. When she's awake, she can tell her legs what to do, but when

sleeping it is involuntary. Does that make sense?

If you are worried at all about the fit of the shoes, or that her

feet aren't fully corrected, don't hesitate to go back to the

doctor. If her feet seem fine, you can always try to let her cry for

a bit to see if she can calm herself and go back to sleep. That

worked very well for us, and we just kept on increasing the amount of

time we'd let him cry each night.
