First, welcome to the list.....we are glad you found us but sorry

it had to be with neuro! There are a lot of knowledgeable

people here who are willing to help and support and we have

lots of links you can check out as well as the Archives......

lots of great info there..........

As for telling the children, mine were all grown when I was

diagnosed, but it was hard to explain to them, even then....

I would gently explain that you have a disease that will not

go away but sometimes does go into remission........and that

at times, you will be really ill and other times you are not

as ill........I would tell them that there are things you might not

be able to do and explain that your energy level will be low

and you have to use what you have very carefully. For

instance, if we have to go to Walmart, I can do NOTHING

else for the whole day............. I would explain that Mom

needs lots of rest and is not able to play and run around

with them..... as they get older, you can tell them more,

but for right now, I would not get toooo technical as they

ARE children and you don't want them to worry about

losing you or anything...............you want them to be

children........

Hope this helps a little bit.......again, welcome.........

and don't be afraid to ask questions.......the only dumb

question is the one not asked! :-)

telling my children

Hello everyone,I was recently diagnosed with neurosarc and I'm not sure how to tell my children--ages 10, 12 and 13. They all want to know what to expect and will be able to tell if I'm hiding any possible prognosis from them.
