Guest guest
I'm just curious to see if anyone else feels like this from time to time. Aleksander isn't having any problems....just me... We've finally been able to reduce Aleksander's hours to 20/7. We're finding that it is almost more of a pain with reduced hours than it was when he was in the shoes 23 hours a day. We never had to schedule things quite so rigidly, and could run with him whenever and wherever. Now, we have a stinking curfew. I feel like I'm sixteen again and I hate it! Don't get me wrong, I love seeing his little feet more, and he's been scooting and getting really close to crawling now that he's in them less. And he loves his hop and pop. But having to schedule everything bites! I'm a bit whiney today....so you'll have to forgive me.

Guest guest
Treat it like you did when he wore the brace full time. Just add an hour here and there. Right after breakfast, take him out of his brace for an hour or two, then for an hour in the afternoon and then another hour at night. If you need to run around to do errands, put the brace on him and bring the stroller...it's not going to hurt him if he misses an hour of his 'free time' here and there...or you can just add it to his night free time. Guest guest
Well, the shoes signify bedtime for Aleksander. And when we run around, we are taking him to concerts (outdoor and with earplugs), movies in the park, and all sorts of things. We're just having a difficult time adjusting things without messing up his schedule too much. And since his longest time awake is in the evenings from 4 until 8, we like to have the shoes off then rather than taking them off and putting them back on again. Plus, with daycare, I like to take them off after we pick him up. So, our work schedule drives that part quite a bit. It's just frustrating. I know having a child is supposed to slow you down, but we haven't had to do that at all yet because Aleksander is so good and really likes it when we run around with him. In fact, on the weekends if we try to stay home and lay low, he's a bit cranky. I guess he likes to keep moving just as much as we do. Plus, sometimes it is tough to put his shoes on in public. He doesn't generally cry, but if he does, it just adds to the stress of it all. Generally I don't give a crap about what others think, but sometimes it gets to you. > What do you mean you have a curfew? Just bring the shoes with you and put them on when his " free time " is up. Guest guest
I see...I guess if it were me, maybe just keep the shoes with you at all times (at least in the car) and if you're doing something that he'll be sitting for anyway, put them on before you get out of the care, heck, even for the ride. They're so used to having them on all the time it's probably pretty easy to just give them less time out rather than accidentally too much time out, because of busy schedules and all. Is he walking? If he's not then he probably doesn't really care if they're on anyway. That's how my daughter is, but of course, she's only 3 months. She doesn't care at all when we take them off or put them on. Makes no difference to her at all...I hear ya about the running too. My first didn't slow me down a bit, of course, by the time we got to #3 things have slowed down a bit. Dh works a lot so it's me hauling the kiddos wherever we go by myself and 3 is a bit to keep track of, especially since #1 and #2 don't have braces, lol, to slow them down! Hang in there though. Sounds like you'll get the hang of the timing thing, just another adjustment... Marcia Reduced Hours > > > I'm just curious to see if anyone else feels like this from time to > time. Guest guest
believe me, been there...still there I guess. But it's much better when they are walking, let me tell you! I found it easiest to plan the out of shoe time around outings. And that counts the time getting them ready for the outing and then getting back, hehe! The 20 hour is a bit of a pain, but really stretch those feet when he is out! Hang in there, 18 is around the corner. (At least I think it's 18, Ponseti put us on kinda a different schedule than his normal one.) But those 2 hours make a huge difference 10-09-03 mitchells 16 hrs. > I'm just curious to see if anyone else feels like this from time to > time. Guest guest
On the fourth, we just put the shoes on early rather than fussing around trying to put them on in a crowd. I just hated " cheating " him out of his time. He loves kicking around and wiggles all over the place when the shoes are off. He wiggles when they are on too, but when those shoes come off, he's all over the place! He's just 7 months and doesn't walk yet. He was also 6 1/2 weeks early so we've been warned that he may walk later, although so far all of the warnings about us needing to adjust milestones have been nothing but hot air! He's been doing everything on time, and sometimes even on the early side. I figure he was born when he was ready, not when the doctors said he should have been ready! We'll be watching my neice (she's 1) for a weekend, so we'll get a taste of what having 2 children will be like. We plan to have another sometime, but want to wait until Aleksander is at least 1 before we even start thinking about trying! I have a feeling we'll decide to wait a little longer after we have for the weekend! She's walking so we'll be in for it. Especially if Aleksander starts to crawl between now and then...which is looking quite possible. Keeping the shoes in the car is a good idea. We also have a great diaper bag that has some handles with clips on the back, presumably for hooking to a stroller, and they hold the shoes perfectly. > > What do you mean you have a curfew? Guest guest
I can TOTALLY relate! When Ava's hours were reduced I found myself leaving the house to go somewhere, and I would forget the FAB, and then...do I go home and get it? Do I cut my shopping/whatever short? Do I say the heck with it and just wait until I get home? Do I make up the hours tomorrow? It did seem easier when it was just one hour. But soon you'll be down to 18, 16, 14, and then it gets better...never fear! > I'm just curious to see if anyone else feels like this from time to > time.
