Guest guest
It's been awhile since my son had his tenotomy, but what I remember is we gave him pain meds for about 36 hours. Guest guest
Tenny always cried. We spent five months casting with a non-Ponseti doc. Those casts were always painful and the casting was very painful. When we changed docs, Tenny still screamed. I think at that point it was more a learned reaction. He would cry if you took is non cf and fussed with it. I do know the Ponseti casts are not as painful. Such a difference in the baby when we switched. I think our post tenotomy cast was our worst. After the first 48 hours it didn't seem to bother him, except if he bumped the cast on something. Apparantly that hurt. Hang in there, it is all worth it. Tenny is currently climbing and destroying my house. It will be over before you know it, but it seems like an eternity when you are in the middle. mom to Tenny rt.cf FAB 14/7 crying during casting and pain? after tenotomy Hi all, I have read that many babies do not cry during manipulation, stretching, and casting. However, our son Cade cries powerfully when having his foot manipulated. He goes back and forth between crying and calming somewhat as the foot is held in place and the cast is applied. I'm wondering how other people's experiences are. We just had our tenotomy and 5th cast, and Cade's foot is finally in a *somewhat* normal position (yeah!). 3 days later he still spends more time fussing or crying when awake than normal, though still sleeps fairly well (as well as a 5 1/2 week old baby does, anyhow!). How long did other people notice discomfort or fussiness after the tenotomy? Thanks for any input. -Chris Father of Cade, 8/11/05, left CF in 5th cast. Guest guest
Hi - our baby ()'s in her 5th cast right now and had her tenotomy a week ago. We ended up going to Iowa to be treated by Dr. Ponseti and he (along with the doctors he was training and nurse ) was really wonderful. But cried at almost every cast change - It didn't seem like she cried because of the pain. It seemed like she cried because she just didn't like people touching her feet. We tried to have her full, or we bought a bottle to give her during the cast changes and that seemed to work. Usually she was fussy for a day after she got her cast change. She seemed to stop crying as long as we held her. She also cried a lot after her tenotomy. But she was pretty fine the day after - we held her a lot and that seemed to comfort her. Guest guest
Hi Yukko! It sounds like 's treatment is going well! She was born the same day as my Ava--8/4/04. Kind of stupid, I know, but I just noticed it. :-) > > > > > > Tenny always cried. We spent five months casting with a non- > Ponseti doc.
