Hi just a quick question my son Josh is almost 9 his last 2 Acid Phosphatase blood test came back high. Normal is 3.0 to 7.0 his first one was 9.3 and the latest one was 9.8, so his Doctor is checking with a Nephrologist or in my terms a kidney specialist. I have noticed that he is urinating less but drink's the same amount of fluids. So I started keeping track at home and at school he only urinates once in a 24 hour period. Do any or you think I should take a more aggressive approach? And are any of your kid's like this? One more thing his Lactic Acid levels have always been high as well.

Thank you all Patty

Dear Patty,

I saw the title of your e-mail and I had

to respond. I can only tell you my experience.I think every organ in the body

can have problems due to mito.

My daughter, Samya, who died of mito

2 years ago was seeing a nephrologists as a baby. She always had low C02 levels

and yet there was no explanation. They suspected Renal tubular acidosis, put

her on bicitra, which made no difference and eventually just stop worrying

about it. Keep in mind, that mito was not a consideration because she was only

diagnosed with mito upon death. She also had endocrine problems that went

unexplained so therefore lots of organs body systems were having problems and

yet they never connected them through mito, but tried to address each issue

separately with a specialist and never got any answers. I do not know if that

helps, except to say that yes I believe kidneys are affected in mito.
