Guest guest
I think some states will pay for physical and occupational therapy. I also want to throw in the benefits of swimming (once the casts come off and after the 3 months of 24-7 shoe/bar time). We didn't do any therapy with , but did introduce him to swimming, which seemed to add a nice, new way for him to move his little body around. Guest guest
Stacie- Each state runs their program differently. In Indiana-your child is assessed to see if he/she will need physical therapy, occupational therapy, developemental therapy, speech therapy to name a few! If you click on the link, you can locate your state contact information. Once you contact them, you have a bunch of forms to fill out and then your child is assessed. If they show a " delay " or have a pre existing condition that automatically qualifies you, then you get the therapy. My son sees a physical therapist and just recently began seeing an occupational therapist since he is delayed in gross/fine motor skills. I am so glad to have found this resource and just wanted to share the information with the rest of the parents out there! kathleen > Hello all- > I just wanted to post a reminder email, especially for all the new > parents out there about a wonderful resource. Guest guest
I wanted to second this! has been getting PT 4 times a month for 60 min. since 4 months, and he has OT 4X a month for 60 min. since 5 1/2 months. It has helped so much in his development. He is still not crawling, but he is trying really hard! His balance and arm coordination just aren't there yet. He is now rolling a lot more. Until recently, he would just roll for belly to back or vice versa once and stop, now he keeps going. We are also from Indiana, and they are wonderful, but other states have their program set up very similarly. 11/19/04 early intervention programs Hello all- I just wanted to post a reminder email, especially for all the new parents out there about a wonderful resource. Guest guest
Kathleen was referring to physical therapy and occupational therapy, but First Steps and other early intervention programs offer others such as speech, hearing, developmental, social, etc... You should find a list of services offered if you look on the website she provided or call a coordinator in your state. HTH, Re: early intervention programs Could you elaborate on this for me.
