Guest guest
, I had my orientation in Nov 05 and my weight was 324. Today my weight is 278. All I did was follow the meal plan that Kaiser gave me 1200 calories and walked on my treadmill at least 20 mins per day. I'm now on the waiting list for surgery. Good luck to you. bizzarrea wrote: Hi all,I'm doing the weight watchers program and am very anxious to get down to goal. Guest guest
250 @ Orientation Nov. 16 2004, started atkins Nov. 17th reach 24# 10% loss by December 30 2004. Saw Surgeon on Jan 6 2005, had surgery Feb 8 2005 (3 pounds under 10% goal 222). It was about 6 weeks for me to lose it doing Atkins. As you can see, my surgery was about a month and a half out from reaching my goal due to the other appoints I had to go through before surgery. You can do this. Be encouraged. Guest guest
: It took me two months to lose 30 lbs required. I lost more than they asked me to on the advice of my surgeon, Dr. Fisher, my hero and life- saver. I followed 1200 cal meal plan to the letter with a vengeance. I exercised 7 days a week. Somewhere in 2000 - 315 Orientation April 3, 2003 - 299 lbs Weigh-in, mid May 2003 goal achieved and surgery scheduled - 270 lbs Surgery, June 3, 2003 - 264 lbs Once I reached goal, I was scheduled in two weeks. But that was a while ago and I was among the first 20 WLS surgeries at Kaiser Richmond. You really can do this. My first week on the 1200 cal meal plan (very similar to Weight Watchers), I lost 8 lbs on a Royal Caribbean Cruise. I put all of my focus into doing what was right for me. Remember, the process starts today, not after your surgery. If you look at it that way, it might help you stay on program better. It helped me. And keep connected to support. We're here to help you and support you. You can do this. If I can, anyone can! Best of luck! Francisco > > Hi all, > > I'm doing the weight watchers program and am very anxious to get down > to goal. Guest guest
I did not reach my goal for about 5 months although I kept to the 1200 calorie diet all the way. I am 65 and it just took me longer. I swam almost every day (aerobics) and I got strong, at least and fell in love with the water, but it took as long as it took. I ended up about 7 obs less than my goal. This was good. I stopped worrying but kept eating carefully after I hit my goal. I was always afraid of gaining. Still am and I a post op. Not much chance right now, I'll say. I wish I had more energy. Love to all. Lilka

Guest guest
Hi Barbara, I am weary and frustrated. I have lost 19 pounds since surgery. That is not counting the 14 pounds I gained during surgery. I weigh 237. I have had constipation which was terrible. Now I eat a little flax and a stool softener to help things along. Two days ago I walked 3/4 of a mile through a woods which I managed just fine. Then I came home and collapsed for a while/ How are you doing these days? Are you still eating 1 ounce of food per meal? Are you still walking miles? Have you dumped? I did. It was awful. I ate a sliver of plum. No more of that. Are you eating anything but protein? I know we are all different but I always want to know what is possibly ahead. I just want to get my energy back. Love to you, Lilka > > Hey Lilka, > > How is everything going with you. Guest guest
I still have my moments with energy, but for the most part it is ten-fold better than I was about a month ago. I am eating about 2 ounces give or take at a meal. Mostly protein, but I have ventured into some carbs (shame on me). My favorite food at the moment is a crispy chicken taco from one of my favorite mexican restaurants. I open it up and eat the chicken and cheese out of it, doused with salsa. I think I could eat it for every meal if I had time to drive there that often! I actually dumped the first time I ate rice. I was eating some sashimi and just wanted a taste which led to two tastes which lead to the most horrible feeling. I've definetely learned my lesson about rice. I have no problems with fruit so far. I have tried banana, mango, strawberries, blueberries and "light" orange juice. I mixed them all into a great smoothie with a little banana protein powder. I am still have body image problems and definetely have problems judging the size of clothes I need to buy - as the sizes decrease it is hard for me to believe that is really the size I should be buying! Best of luck to you in everything! Barbara From: Lilka Sent: Wednesday, February 15, 2006 5:03 PMTo: gastric-bypass-support-kaiser-patients Subject: Re: Goal Hi Barbara, I am weary and frustrated. Guest guest
Barbara, Thanks so much for giving me a rundown. Wow. You mean I will be able to eat 2 oz of food? I would never drink such a drink given my bad experience with the plum, at least not yet. What else do you eat? Have you eaten salmon or tuna? I have. Do you eat cheese? I do but mostly low fat mozzarela. I eat a scrambled egg with cheese. That is quite good but I am already bored. Are you hungry yet? Do you feel full? I feel neither so far, 3 weeks out. That chicken taco sounds very good. Do you eat tomatoes or any kind of fresh veg? I am longing for that. I am too full of questions. Thanks if you have time to answer.
Guest guest
Yup - 2oz. but remember be happy with the 1oz for now. I don't think I could have even thought of that drink 3 weeks out either. I think I was about 6 weeks out or so, but I did a lot of tasting the week before working up to the concoction. I eat tuna and salmon, both raw and cooked with no problems. Cheeses - Ive done string, cheddar and a marble with colby and something else. Scambled egg with cheese and a dash of salt was one of my first "real" foods. When I was cleared for stage III one of the first things I ran out for was hot and sour soup. Probably not the best idea being as soup is kinda eating and drinking at the same time, but I stuck mostly to the broth and the flavor was just so incredibly good. No fresh veggies yet, but I am craving a salad so badly!!! The only hunger I feel is head hunger, but I definetely feel full. I swear, its like Thanksgiving every meal. All I want to do is crawl under my desk and pass out in a chicken taco coma!!! Other than the size of my portions, I am starting to feel "normal" again. I can go to almost any restaurant and find a little something I can order, now usually that order lasts me until I just dont want to eat it anymore, but none the less I can go out without fear of "I cant eat that" or "will that make me sick". Feel free to ask away! Anytime!
