Guest guest
Yup - 2oz. but remember be happy with the 1oz for now. I don't think I could have even thought of that drink 3 weeks out either. I think I was about 6 weeks out or so, but I did a lot of tasting the week before working up to the concoction. I eat tuna and salmon, both raw and cooked with no problems. Cheeses - Ive done string, cheddar and a marble with colby and something else. Scambled egg with cheese and a dash of salt was one of my first "real" foods. When I was cleared for stage III one of the first things I ran out for was hot and sour soup. Probably not the best idea being as soup is kinda eating and drinking at the same time, but I stuck mostly to the broth and the flavor was just so incredibly good. No fresh veggies yet, but I am craving a salad so badly!!! The only hunger I feel is head hunger, but I definetely feel full. I swear, its like Thanksgiving every meal. All I want to do is crawl under my desk and pass out in a chicken taco coma!!! Other than the size of my portions, I am starting to feel "normal" again. I can go to almost any restaurant and find a little something I can order, now usually that order lasts me until I just dont want to eat it anymore, but none the less I can go out without fear of "I cant eat that" or "will that make me sick". Feel free to ask away! Anytime! Barbara From: Lilka Sent: Wednesday, February 15, 2006 5:20 PMTo: gastric-bypass-support-kaiser-patients Subject: Re: Goal Barbara, Thanks so much for giving me a rundown. Wow. You mean I will be able to eat 2 oz of food? I would never drink such a drink given my bad experience with the plum, at least not yet. What else do you eat? Have you eaten salmon or tuna? I have. Do you eat cheese? I do but mostly low fat mozzarela. I eat a scrambled egg with cheese. That is quite good but I am already bored. Are you hungry yet? Do you feel full? I feel neither so far, 3 weeks out. That chicken taco sounds very good. Do you eat tomatoes or any kind of fresh veg? I am longing for that. I am too full of questions. Thanks if you have time to answer. Guest guest
Barbara and Lilka - I want to thank you for all your Q & A. Every time I have a guestion one of you ask it and the other answers. I am one week behind Lilka and like to see what is coming up next for me. So far I have talerated everything I have tried but I haven't tried that much. I did try tuna on a cracker. It was OK but today I left the cracker out and it was better. I haven't dumped anything but if I drink too fast or too much or don't chew enough it seems to stick right in my throat. I have even mixed my protein power with non-fat mike with no problem. I can only eat about 2-3 ozs tops for each meal but I am getting all my water. So I guess I am right on track? I went to the gym lat night but was only able to use the treadmill for about 8mins. I think I will stick to walking the neighborhood. Again thanks and keep the dialog going. PEGGY > > > > > > Hey Lilka, > > > > > > How is everything going with you. Guest guest
Hi Peggy. I hope our discussions were helpful but remember that we are not allowed to drink protein shakes. I am thinking about that since some people ssaid they felt so much better after drinking them. We are only allowed one oz of protein, too. This just does seem to be enough. I will see my doctor on the 24th and I will discuss this with him. If I don't get better, I may go against his instructions and drink a small shake. We have to listen to our bodies and mine is not too happy right now, just too tired and exhausted. I am glad you have a nice pouch. Some people don't. I feel mine is OK. Guest guest
Lilka, I don't know if this will make you feel any better about your situation or not but the day of surgery, I was 222. The day after surgery, I was 247 (3 pounds from my weight at orientation). Thats right. I had gained 25 pounds and I took my first two weeks, maybe 2.5 weeks just losing that. I got bummed but slowly but surely the weight just started coming off. I was upset because so many people posted saying they had only gained about 2-5 pounds. So be encouraged. Guest guest
Yes, it makes me feel better. 14 lbs of gas or whatever was a lot. Guest guest
Boy, is that good to hear! As someone who really likes variety in her foods, and who LOVES ethnic foods of many different persuasions, I'm really glad to hear from someone who's able to enjoy a wide variety. And yes, I do realize that YMMV and everyone is different - it's just a hopeful note to hear! Cathy >Other than the size of my > portions, I am starting to feel " normal " again. Guest guest
Hi ... I had to lose 26.5 lbs. I had my weigh in at the end of January, and I was at goal at the end of May..had my surgery on June 8th. I could have done it sooner, but I sort of lollygagged around for awhile before I put the steam on and really took a no prisoners approach. So, those dates could have been very different. I lost 16 of the 26.5 in about 5 or 6 weeks (the last weeks, when i finally got my act together.) Working out every day really helped...as did drinking tons of water. Good luck!
