Guest guest
Greetings: I'm 5 Weeks and 2 days out (post-op). I have a few questions and concerns. Have anyone ever experience any of the following: 1. Stomach Cramps 2. Uncomfortable feeing in the Upper Stomach 3. Incisions soreness (5 weeks after) 4. Unable to chew the vitamins 5. At times to drink fluids how recommended 6. Loss of appetite 7. Gas - oh my God gas 8. Being bloated (from time to time, I guess it's related to the gas) 9. Weakness Keep in mind all my food is staying down (yes). I've been to the ER for the above symptoms and after x-rays and CT of my stomach, it was revealed that all was ok. __________________________________________"Life is a coin. Guest guest
Not sure of what to tell you as I did not experience those things as you know first hand ( and I work together and I love her to death). Some of the veterans will chime in and give you some sound advice. Be encouraged because it will get better. Love you honey and congrats. Girl you forgot to mention your 30 pounds or so loss - lol. Guest guest
: Here's my answer to your questions: > I'm 5 Weeks and 2 days out (post-op). I have a few questions and concerns. Have anyone ever experience any of the following: > > 1. Stomach Cramps Yes. When I started doing sit-ups, it didn't feel very great, but they were mild. Maybe it has to do with your cycle? My friend started her period the day after surgery. > 2. Uncomfortable feeing in the Upper Stomach Yes, but I just relaxed and took it slow. Tiny bites. Tiny sips. It gets better, really it does. > 3. Incisions soreness (5 weeks after) Yes, I had open RNY. My incision was cranky for a while. Sometimes even now, 2.5 years post-op, my incision will RARELY itch or feel weird. It's OK and it's normal. Let it heal. > 4. Unable to chew the vitamins I'm not sure what you mean by this. I've always been able to chew and swallow. I still take my Flintstones chewables (I take 2 a day) because they work for me. > 5. At times to drink fluids how recommended It's an asjustment at first, but you'll be OK. But DON'T let yourself become dehydrated. Tiny sips all the time. After a while it becomes second nature and you can take bigger sips, but at first I kept a timer to remind me when it was time to sip water. Now with the amount of exercise I do, I drink it automatically, but I'm always aware of how much I'm drinking and when. > 6. Loss of appetite Yes, ain't is wonderful not to be hungry all the time. But DO have regular meals, and don't skip meals because you need to fuel your body for healing and for LOSING weight. It seems counter intuitive, but you need to eat enough of the right stuff to get to goal. > 7. Gas - oh my God gas Yes, I pat my tummy after a meal to burp myself like a baby. Even now, 2.5 years post-op. And the first time I tried milk post-op, I nearly blew the roof off the house. Don't hold the gas in. Find a place to let her rip because holding gas will cause pain. > 8. Being bloated (from time to time, I guess it's related to the gas Yes, see answer to question 7. And you don't want to retain water by drinking too little. Keep hydrated so that your kidneys will work to pee out the bloat. > 9. Weakness Yes, you've been through major surgery and you need time to heal. Exercise gently NOW to build up your strength (clear this with your doc). I exercised through my weakness (at a very gentle pace on the treadmill), and I slowly built up endurance so that now, post-op, a 5 mile run doesn't even phase me. You can do it, you really can! Walk, walk, walk. That was my major form of exercise during my first few months post-op. > > Keep in mind all my food is staying down (yes). This is a good thing. A very good thing. (Yikes, I'm channeling Martha !) > I've been to the ER for the above symptoms and after x-rays and CT of my stomach, it was revealed that all was ok. , it sounds like you're completely normal. Guest guest
, I had surgery on January 3, and yes, my tummy hurts, upper tummy uncomfortable, gas, bloated (UCLA says it can be four months before that goes away). my inccisions are okay, but they were sensitive until recently, taking vites are fine, I got mine at Vitamin Shoppe, pineapple flavored multi's and cherry iron, the sublinguals my husband has were unbearable, I got lemon flavored, calcium is chalky but orange, not bad. My appitite is up and down...today no breakfast, two bites at lunch and a light dinner.... last night (valentines day) we shared an 8 ounce steak dinner with rice and beans, had left overs for the neighbor dog and shared chocolate cake with ice cream with lots left over!!!! I'm tired but working full time, in school half time, and I know I'm slacking on protien lately....gotta get back into it. Hope that helps! Guest guest
I'm 10 months post op and I had every one of your symptoms. I still get cramping if I eat almost anything other than protein, I really have to introduce foods very slow. I still get lots of gas and some bloating time to time, but I do have to say it all has gotten better slowly. I know everyone doesn't have all these but everyone has some of these, but I can say as of today gas and introducing foods slowly are the only 2 symptoms left as long as I do things right. Hope this helps, take care. Donna wrote: Greetings: I'm 5 Weeks and 2 days out (post-op). I have a few questions and concerns. Have anyone ever experience any of the following: 1. Stomach Cramps 2.
