Guest guest
Francisco, Thank you for your input. It touched home and you're correct, I think some of the things i'm experiencing has to do with monthly female problems. I'm glad to know that I'm normal (smile). Francisco you are wonderful. Thank you for ALWAYS taking the time out to respond to my inquiries. Thank you manisodream wrote: :Here's my answer to your questions:> I'm 5 Weeks and 2 days out (post-op). I have a few questions and concerns. Have anyone ever experience any of the following:> > 1. Stomach CrampsYes. When I started doing sit-ups, it didn't feel very great, but they were mild. Maybe it has to do with your cycle? My friend started her period the day after surgery.> 2. Uncomfortable feeing in the Upper StomachYes, but I just relaxed and took it slow. Tiny bites. Tiny sips. It gets better, really it does.> 3. Incisions soreness (5 weeks after)Yes, I had open RNY. My incision was cranky for a while. Sometimes even now, 2.5 years post-op, my incision will RARELY itch or feel weird. It's OK and it's normal. Let it heal.> 4. Unable to chew the vitaminsI'm not sure what you mean by this. I've always been able to chew and swallow. I still take my Flintstones chewables (I take 2 a day) because they work for me.> 5. At times to drink fluids how recommendedIt's an asjustment at first, but you'll be OK. But DON'T let yourself become dehydrated. Tiny sips all the time. After a while it becomes second nature and you can take bigger sips, but at first I kept a timer to remind me when it was time to sip water. Now with the amount of exercise I do, I drink it automatically, but I'm always aware of how much I'm drinking and when.> 6. Loss of appetiteYes, ain't is wonderful not to be hungry all the time. But DO have regular meals, and don't skip meals because you need to fuel your body for healing and for LOSING weight. It seems counter intuitive, but you need to eat enough of the right stuff to get to goal.> 7. Gas - oh my God gasYes, I pat my tummy after a meal to burp myself like a baby. Even now, 2.5 years post-op. And the first time I tried milk post-op, I nearly blew the roof off the house. Don't hold the gas in. Find a place to let her rip because holding gas will cause pain.> 8. Being bloated (from time to time, I guess it's related to the gasYes, see answer to question 7. And you don't want to retain water by drinking too little. Keep hydrated so that your kidneys will work to pee out the bloat.> 9. WeaknessYes, you've been through major surgery and you need time to heal. Exercise gently NOW to build up your strength (clear this with your doc). I exercised through my weakness (at a very gentle pace on the treadmill), and I slowly built up endurance so that now, post-op, a 5 mile run doesn't even phase me. You can do it, you really can! Walk, walk, walk. That was my major form of exercise during my first few months post-op.> > Keep in mind all my food is staying down (yes). This is a good thing. A very good thing. (Yikes, I'm channeling Martha !) > I've been to the ER for the above symptoms and after x-rays and CT of my stomach, it was revealed that all was ok. , it sounds like you're completely normal. Keep up the good work. This really works if you work it! Keep us updated on how you're doing.Francisco__________________________________________"Life is a coin.
