Guest guest
I spent last nite in the ER with my 11 year old son. Around 7 pm he started to complaim of really bad pain around his heart area (claiming he could not breath and was having a heart attack). he has crohns and probably mito (mild - as his younger brother has confimred via muscle biopsy and they are almost positive it is maternally inherited). Jake is also small only 55 pounds. We en up in the ER at they do see up very quickly cause of his crohns. They do an EKG and order x-rays and blood work - he is very pale and really did not each much yesterday and tells me on the way to ER - oh by they way I had diarehha 7 times today (he is on asacol) and his crohns has been pretty good. They do a chest and abdomen x-ray and see a clear calcification (a white mass) in his kidney region. They then draw blood - but for some reason do not put in an IV. They get enough blood for a CBC but not some of the other tests. At this point it is abou 12:30 and Jake is asleep on the stetcher. They wanted to take more blood but he was just so cranky and said he no longer had pain (although winced when ER doc pressed in certain areas. Anyway ER doc said they could admit him for observation (not what I really wanted as I had the twins at home) or go to the ped in the Am and get a CT today or tomorrow. We will be going to the ped shortly and just wanted to know if anyone has dealt with this - calcifications and what it could be besides Kidney Stones. hugsSharonI ran the Marine corps marathon on 10-31-04 and I am running the Las Vegas Marathon on 1-30-05 - If you believe you can do it -- YOU CAN!!!
