July 30 surgery with Dr. Rabkin rescheduled to September 14, 2001

I'm so bummed. Last Wednesday I went to see Dr. Elkin for my medical

clearance and he noticed that my thyroid was enlarged. He ordered a

thyroid scan and the scan showed a " cold nodule " on my thyroid which

must be biopsied (sp?) before surgery. So, the biopsy is scheduled

for August 13 and I have to take another number for the surgery

line. Now surgery is scheduled for September 14 providing I'm not

DYING of cancer, (sarcasm intended).

Can anyone elaborate on " cold nodules " ?

hi dory, i saw your post. my mom had a cold nodule removed last month because

the biopsy was inconclusive. they removed the left half of her thyroid along

with the nodule. it was sent to pathology while she was still on the o.r. table

and it was benign. in fact the surgeon said prior to her surgery that the

majority of thyroid growths are benign. i just wanted to pass this on to you, i

know it's not of any real help, but just more info for you. take care, rob
