Guest guest
, I know how hard it can be. I'm pre-op, I haven't even had my orientation yet, so I'm even further out than you are - but I'm in the 340-350 range myself and diabetic and I understand the problems you're coping with right now. " Saying goodbye " to the food can be a real trap. I got into that mindset at the end of August when I made the decision to begin this whole journey, and over the next month or two I jumped up 10 lbs just because I was " saying goodbye " to certain foods. Yeah, I know I shouldn't work too hard to lose weight before orientation - but GAINING before orientation is a bad idea, too! How close are you? You still have three weeks until that appointment. If you were trying to do the 1200-calorie plan, and not making it with that, maybe you need to try a different approach for the next three weeks. Several folks on the list have talked about getting their 10% off by doing Atkins or South Beach or other low-carb plan. I know it's the holiday season. But getting those last pre-op pounds off so you can get your date and have the surgery is going to be the best Christmas present you have ever gotten. Guest guest
- I wish i could wave a magic wand or sprinkle some pixie dust your way but the truth is none of this easy pre op or post op, there are always good choices and bad choices to make........you just have to realize when you make a mistake and then move forward try not to look backwards...............one day it just clicks into place and it goes from there............you are young and have kids and you want to be here for them and see what they grow up to be...... that was my motivation,i also had diabetes and high blood pressure.................I dont have the diabetes any longer but the high blood pressure was more genetic than weight related, cholseterol is now in the safe ranges...................... best of luck to you Colleen Hadsell wrote: Dear Everyone: Hi! I have been a member of this group for a while but have not posted anything yet and now I have to face my fears. I have an appt. with a surgeon on Dec. 20th but I did not lose the required amount of weight (close, but no cigar). I guess I have a couple of weeks left to work on it but... Will they yell at me? hahaha What will happen is what I am wondering. I know most of you have to drive a long ways like I do to get all this Kaiser help, it's not the drive that bothers me though, it's the fact that I've been off of the diet for over a month now and have not met the weight requirement. I just turned 40, I have 4 kids & I weigh a little over 350 right now with Diabetes (pretty bad) and High Blood Pressure, etc. I take enough pills to make me full.... I need this surgery Badly, I know. I just can't stop saying "Goodbye" to all my favorite foods AND the amounts I am used to.... Please Help! I am so upset right now... Thank you! Guest guest
Who and where is your surgeon? Some give a little leeway, but not much. How far away are you from goal? Keep plugging day by day--in 20 days, with a little effort, you could lose 10 pounds. Good luck.
