It was so good to hear from you again, Kay! I was wondering what might have

happened to keep you away from us--glad to learn it's just daily life. I was

wondering about your knee surgery, too. Best of luck on the 15th. I had a hip

replaced several years ago (pre-op), and the recovery, for me, wasn't a whole

lot of fun--hope your recovery goes smoothly and quickly.

Don't be a stranger!

Kay, I have missed you! Glad to hear you are doing

well. I heard that a Kay facilitates the Fremont

support group every other month or so. Is that you?

If so I'll have to make it to one just to say hello.

I've really missed your input here!

Hi Pat,

Thanks for the kind words. As you can see, I am very slow in

responding. I apologize for that . . . but it is just so hard to sit at

the computer these days. Not that anything is wrong, simply that there

is so much else to be doing. Back in the days when my weight held me

down, it was easy to spend the entire day at the computer. Now, I want

to be out doing yard work or going to the gym or visiting friends or

shopping (I think shopping has become my new vice - I just find it so

hard to resist cute clothes at bargain prices) or any of dozens of other

things.

How is your replaced hip these days? I know that the rehab from joint

replacement can be a trial, but everyone I has spoken with who has had

it done says the results are worth it. Hope that is the case for you.

Your stats are looking good, too. Seems like you've lost a whole person.

Thanks again.

Take care,

Hi Laurie,

Thanks for the kind words. And . . . sorry to take to so long to write

back. There is just so much else to be doing these days that it is

difficult to find the time to sit still long enough to keep up with my

e-mail. But the folks here are important to me . . . so I'll be here

from time to time even if I have to pass over all my other mail (well .

.. . except for family and bills).

Yes . . . I facilitate the Fremont support group at just about every

other meeting. We meet twice a month - the 2nd and 4th Fridays of most

months (we skipped the Friday after Thanksgiving). I generally

facilitate the meeting on the 2nd Friday, but and I will

occasionally swap to fit our schedules. Wargo is the one who

started the group and I still kinda think of it as her group. She is

the one with whom the Fremont Bariatric Dept. communicates. She is a

wonderful lady and is about 4 years post-op (if memory serves me right).

I will be facilitating the next meeting - on Dec. 9th. I am not sure

about the next few meetings. That will depend on how I am recovering

from surgery and, most importantly, whether or not I've been cleared to

drive. Also . . . we are encouraging folks in the Fremont group to step

forward if they would like to facilitate the group. I'll still be

attending, even if I'm not up front . . . and, since I do have a hard

time keeping my big mouth shut, I shouldn't be too hard to spot. It

would be great to see you there.

Hope all is going well with you.

Hi Colleen,

Thanks for the well wishes and kind words.

It IS amazing how daily life has changed. Instead of sitting at the

computer, I'd rather be out in the yard or working on some project or

any of so many things that once-upon-a-a-time were just too much for me

to do. Nowadays, I find it hard to sit still - hmmmm . . . this may

make recovering from knee surgery a b*tch - but, then it may help me

work hard at the rehab.

I hope that all is going well with you.

Take care,

Hi Patrice,

Thanks for the welcome back.

It is great to know that there is another Faire Folk here. I knew a

Patrice at Black Point years ago. If you don't mind my asking . . .

what do you do at Faire? Which Faires have you done? Perhaps we've

met.

Oh . . . do you participate at the Dickens Faire, as well? I haven't

in years, but we are hoping to bring our booth to Dickens next year.

Take care,

We do all of the faires in Northern California. We have been doing this "hobbie" for about 14 years now. Black Point ahhhh Those were the days. Anyway, we are sewing, sewing, sewing getting ready for next faire season. I have attached a pic of myself.

Hope to get to know you better.

My husband portrays the Viceroy of New Grenada. I, his wife of French origin from the house of Guise.

We had belonged to St. s Guild for awhile but are in transition right now. Past years we have been independent street actors and have always been available for gigs with the court but alas we are getting a bit old and tired and aren't as active as before but we do try to get all the faires in that we can.

We have friends that do the Dickens Faire and also are involved with the n Christmas in Grass Valley. They have been trying for years to get us involved but gosh that means more sewing for another time period.

Alas, I dread taking in all my gowns. I tried on a couple the other night and they hang on me already. I'm not sure if I should just wait or make a transition gown for this faire season. So many decisions.....

Anyway, I do hope to meet you.

Hi Patrice,

Nice picture. You look great! I don't recognize you . . . but from

the looks of your garb you probably spend your time more at court than

with the likes of my sort. I run Innyard Games. My character is

pretty much on the border between the upper levels of peasantry and the

lower middle class. I've been doing Ren Faire since 1977.

Which guild are you in?

I need to start the "sewing, sewing, sewing for next season" myself. I

certainly need a new bodice at the very least. Also, since we are

planning to do the Dickens Christmas Faire next year, I need to make a

complete new n costume or, at the very least, try to re-size my

old one.

Take care,
