Guest guest
WAY OT: Carnival Cruise Anyone on the list have any pull with Carnival Cruise Lines? I just found out from my father-in-law that we are going to be unable to go on the cruise we have been planning for months. He had pulled it together through his travel agent and EVERYONE in the family is going to be there, except for us I guess. Turns out Janelyse is too young to go (by about 10 days!!!!!). They have to be 4 months old and even though she'll be 16 weeks old when we were scheduled to leave she isn't technically 4 calendar months. We were supposed to leave on the 16th and was born on March 25. I am so bummed. There were supposed to be approximately 20 of us. I guess this is just a Carnival policy, but surely they could bend the rules just a little! The thing that's awful is that if we had known 2 months ago when this was all finalized the trip could've been moved out a week or two to accommodate, but now that it's a week out everyone from out of town has airplane tickets, people have off work, the dentist in the family has scheduled no patients that week, etc. It's just impossible for everyone to change at this late notice. I think it's the travel agents fault for not informing us right away, though I guess my FIL knew a month ago this might happen, but since they are such good customers he was thinking they might be able to pull some strings. (He and his family take a trip at least every other month - and cool stuff like African Safaris, European cruises, etc.) UGH...so much for our summer vacation. This stinks.... Guest guest
Marcia, Who exactly told you that she cannot go? If you didn't already get it from the cruise line itself then call them and find out from them whether or not she can go and the " exact " reason why should wouldn't be allowed. What about if you got a letter from her pediatrician saying that she is healthy and able to travel? We purchased tickets and we were going to bring Christian on a Royal Caribbean cruise when he was 3 months old and we booked directly with the cruise line itself and no one had a problem with it. They offered a crib, nanny service etc. for him. Just some thoughts WAY OT: Carnival Cruise Anyone on the list have any pull with Carnival Cruise Lines? Guest guest
Marcia, One more thing...if she is really going to be 16 weeks when you leave for the cruise you can argue that she is 4 lunar months..lol. They might look at you funny but can they argue that? I hope you find a way to work it out! Re: WAY OT: Carnival Cruise Well, since I'm not booking the cruise myself, I'm not sure exactly. What I do know is that the travel agency my FIL uses does a TON of business with Carnival and it is just their policy that no babies under 4 months. I may call the cruise line myself on Monday and see if they can give me more details. My FIL thought the agency was trying to swing a deal with Carnival to work this out which is why we thought it was taking so long to get back w/us. Those are good ideas though. Does Royal Caribbean have an age policy? Maybe it's just a Carnival thing? I have no clue, last time we took a cruise we didn't have kiddos Marcia WAY OT: Carnival Cruise Anyone on the list have any pull with Carnival Cruise Lines? Guest guest
Marcia, I found this on Carnivals website. It looks like it is their own policy (as opposed to the travel agency). Maybe you could contact them directly to see if they would make any sort of exception or to see, as someone else suggested, if you could get a doctor's cert. that shows that she is healthy that would then allow you to go. It's worth a shot! http://www.carnival.com/CMS/Static_Templates/EMB_minor_pregnancy_polic y.aspx Hope this helps, Daiga > Well, since I'm not booking the cruise myself, I'm not sure exactly. Guest guest
Marcia, I am not sure what steps you have taken thus far to protest, but I would keep it up until the ship sails. Can they take a drs. note, special waiver, anything? This is nuts. Good luck and I am still hoping we can say bon voyage to you!!!!
