Guest guest
I'm getting closer to my goal...17.1 lbs more... But I have a question about Meds. I know that we are to stop our meds about 3 weeks prior to surgery (if that's correct?) But what about Birth Control Pills? It takes about 3 months for BCP to be completely out of your system...Do I have to wait the 3 months??? I want my surgery the day after I meet goal... So, if anyone can answer my q please do so! Thanks,

Guest guest
Hi, - Yes, you need to stop taking BC meds that contain estrogen several months before surgery - I think it's at least two, but I'd have to check the binder to find out. Call NOW to set up an appt. with your OB/GYN, explain that you're getting ready for WLS, and talk over your options. My OB suggested an IUD. I'm fortunate that she also is very familiar with WLS, and has had several patients who have gone through the procedure before so she knows all the restrictions - she's been very supportive of me. Guest guest
Definitely ask your dr. about that one. I was told I can take my regular medications (basically just an antidepressant) the morning of surgery. The only meds I was told to stay off a week before surgery were OTC Ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin) and Alleve. Diann I'm getting closer to my goal...17.1 lbs more... But I have a question about Meds.
