Guest guest
Hi Joline, Congratulations on your pregnancy! I have found that regular baby clothes fit fine over the casts so I don't think it is necessary for you to purchase special items. But when your baby is put into the shoes with the bar you will ABSOLUTELY need all kinds of clothes and pajamas that have snaps throughout the entire bottom. You will want to be able to change all of the baby's clothes without having to take the shoes off and on. HTH What clothes to purchase? Our baby which is due in early November has been diagnosis with unilateral club foot on the right foot. We already have one child and I'm trying to figure out what clothes I can purchase for her when she is in the casts. What works and what doesn't? We plan on starting treatment within days of her birth. TIA! Joline
Guest guest
Joline- While in the casting phase, our son wore everything-the footed sleepers/onesies worked well-especially the terrycloth ones as they stretched nicely. I felt more comfortable taking out in the footed one piece sleepers as it covered the casts and kept the questions to a minimum. The casting phase is typically short and sweet and lasts up to 8 weeks. From that point on, its shoes/brace time. This means typically pants/sleepers that snap up the legs and are open at the feet. Our son loves sleeping in a sleep sack with a long sleeve onesie on. Our son goes to daycare-has since 12 weeks-so we wanted the whole shoe experience to be easy on his caretakers-so we went with pants that snapped up the leg, one pieces that were open at the feet. Overalls were the best in my opinion!! Hope this helps! Guest guest
During the casting phase, my daughter was pretty much able to wear whatever. I actually used a lot of pull on pants with onesies and little cardigan type of outfits. Kelsey was born November 7 and here in Ohio it gets cold so I needed things to be able to keep her warm. The shoes/bar time were more problematic but then we just purchased things that would where the legs would unsnap completely and we could put everything on over her head. Kelsey was 12 months old during this phase and it made things more difficult because they do not make a lot of sleepers etc in this age range. She absolutely HATED the sleep sack things and she has an easy tendency to overheat so we avoided those. I just ended up buying her one piece regular clothes that she slept in. Good luck with your little one. jenni --- jramals wrote: > Our baby which is due in early November has been > diagnosis with > unilateral club foot on the right foot. Guest guest
Dresses! For girls, I think the snaps up the legs is not as important with boys because they can wear dresses. Plus those outfits just aren't as nice for girls as for boys, girls just look great in girl clothes even when they're newborns. (I have two boys already so I was very ready for girl clothes with my 3rd LOL) Also, I dressed Darbi in a lot of stretch pants with snap onesies. Used those as jammies too when time for the FAB came along - that way I didn't have to change her in the am to regular clothes to take my son to school in. The stretch pants are easy enough to pull down to the feet and change diapers. But dresses... way easy. You can put stockings over the casts if it's cold and no one can really tell it's a cast unless they get real close and touch. Not that it needs to be hidden, but it's so much easier if you don't have to explain all the time that you DID NOT break your baby's legs. Congrats on your new babe and welcome to the list!
