Guest guest
My problem is that I can’t lift my leg at all, how could I lift weights, or did I read it wrong, I could have my husband pick it up and to leg lifts that way, you know I guess I can ask, Marla, No you didn't read it wrong. I would sit on a weight bench with the padded bars that rest on the top of your shin, and swing my leg-- first with no weights attached, then after the first couple of days-- with 1#, and SLOWLY increase. One of the items I'm seriously looking into is in this months Arthritis Today-- www.arthritis.org is a piece of equipment where you are laying on your back, your legs are in a padded support and it moves you in a figure eight position-- I'll have to find it in one of the last magazines I got. My DC has highly suggested I get it. We'll see if we can get ins. to pay for it. I know that as unstable as you are-- that this all seems pointless- but even if you could get some movement-- a physical therapist would be lifting your leg for you until you are strong enough to lift it yourself. If it is in part weakness-- if it is that you've ended up with the demylination of those nerves-- then it may not be reversible. (( refuse to give up hope for you...) Love to you, and I'll get that info. Tracie NS Co-owner/moderatorSee what's new at AOL.com and Make AOL Your Homepage.

Guest guest
Hi Marla, Before I got sick I had a exercise machine called a Total Gym 1000. I don't know if anyone has heard of it. Christie Brinkley and Chuck Norris used to endorse it. It was only around $100-$150. http://www.totalgym.com/ * The first machine to the lefit in the picture. But I bought mine in a store. Anyway, it looks kinda like a weight bench with pulleys at the top. You lay down on the bench and attach the pulley through a strap around your foot. You pull up your leg and it works against your body weight similar to weights. You can do it at home at your own pace. That's what I liked about it. Anyway, before I got sick I really worked up muscular legs with it. Now I use once in awhile, to try it when I feel I can. I know you can't raise your legs, but as you said you're husband could help you start off with it. Just a suggestion for you or anyone else. Guest guest
Debbie, This is what my husband is thinking of getting us once he is done with the basement, almost there, he spends Saturdays at his brothers who is basically rebuilding his house twice the size, and then comes home and works on the basement, we will have an exercise room, so will work on it that way. Thanks for the info. Marla From: Neurosarcoidosis [mailto:Neurosarcoidosis ] On Behalf Of Debbie Sent: Saturday, November 17, 2007 3:22 AM To: Neurosarcoidosis Subject: Re: leg paralysis Hi Marla, Before I got sick I had a exercise machine called a Total Gym 1000.
