Hey, I went to the msn clubfoot group today, I havent' been there in

like 6 months, just to check it out, I saw it looked dessereted as of

April 2005. But there was a post saying someone had started a new

clubfoot group a yahoo one called surgical clubfooters. I have never

heard of that one, I haven't went through and read the group post yets

to see what it is all about yet, but it lets you join pretty easy, so

I joined but it will take awhile to go through it there was like about

300 posts on it. There was a quote about Dr. Herzenberg and surgery

on the home page of it which through me off, but I still need to go

through. Does anyone here know about it, that could brief me before I

go through 300 posts??? I know sometimes people get upset/pissed off

when people from this group go onto the other yahoo group " clubfoot "

and give non-surgical advice...I'm guilty I try to save people from

surgery when I can (even through Collin has had surgery). But I'm not

sure if that is warning for no savior posts by calling the group

surgical clubfooters. Hopefully they won't get too mad that I posted

about a surgical clubfoot group on a non surgical clubfoot group.

Michele,

I have never checked out the surgical clubfooters group, though I was meaning

to, thanks for the reminder.

Someone from the yahoo clubfoot group started it some months back, after an

exchange of offenses on the clubfoot board, as a place where parents whose

children had already had surgery could find support. I don't think it has much

to do with choosing surgical treatment over nonsurgical treatment. Rather, most

of the folks involved are ones who did not know about the existence of the

Ponseti method, most of them have children over the age of 5 or 6 who are past

the point where they could start over with the Ponseti method.

I do think that it is terrific that many of these parents who simply did not

know about the Ponseti method, who are clearly dedicated to the well-being of

their children, have also become strong advocates for the Ponseti method. There

have been several of these kinds of messages on the clubfoot board in the last

week.

I haven't read to see if someone answered you, but I found this group last week

and saw the quote. I wondered what context is was taken out of or when it was

said, because from what I have read, I can't imagine him saying that about

surgery.

I believe I saw something several months ago mentioned on the clubfoot site

about this group being formed because of what went on during the bracelet

discussion (If you were on that group you probably remember it!) I don't have

any other info. on the group but it would be interesting to read the posts!

Hi Naomi,

I must have missed the posts on the other board with problems with the

bracelets. I was sick alot this year and tried going through and

catching up on both the boards (clubfoot and nosurgery4clubfoot), but

I guess I missed more then I though. I'm just going to join all the

boards, I can never learn to much!!!!
