Guest guest
I'm not switched (yet) but I can speak as a Xenical (orlistat) veteran. Xenical causes you to mal-absorb fats. That's techno speak for " it comes out looking like it did when it went in " . So if you eat a big plate of French fries, then the quarter cup or so of oil that you just ate reappears on the other end the next day. All the extra lubrication makes your stools loose and gassy. The oil (warning- gross ahead) sometimes feels pretty much like gas, so it can come out and stain your clothes when you don't expect it. Of course this is all self inflicted, our ancestors were designed to eat berries and roots, not to drink vegetable oil.... So I guess that surgically induced lipid mal-absorption will act much like chemically induced mal-absorption. I'll tell you for sure in a month or two I thought enquiring minds might want to know.... As a DS post-op, Greg, I can not only second that, but let you in on a useful secret: try wearing maxipads in your undies. Prevents social embarrassments and saves on cleaning bills. > >Of course this is all self inflicted, our ancestors were designed to eat >berries and roots, not to drink vegetable oil.... Not really ALL our ancestors. Some, from arctic climates, evolved to eating the fattest part of animals (sheep, whales, etc.) and storing the animal fat as their own fat for getting through the winters. > >So I guess that surgically induced lipid mal-absorption will act much like >chemically induced mal-absorption.
