Terrie, do you get any kind of tax break for the renovations on your house? I know the packing, moving, unpacking, packing, moving, unpacking, is exhausting, but life will be easier for you & your family now.

there is a home near me for sale that is already handicapped- accessible. It's in a decent neighborhood with lots of streets to ride my trike & the price is good. The monthly payment would be $150-200 less than I'm paying for rent now. I'm trying to think of some way to get it. Because I filed bankruptcy 3 years ago & haven't established credit since then, I can't qualify for a loan. The interesting thing is that it's not the bankruptcy itself; it's the fact that I don't have any credit since! If I'd known that's how it works, I would have gotten a prepaid credit card, or something, right away, just to establish credit. I do have a car loan now; my daughter actually pays the payment & insurance, but it's in my name. The interest rate if awful, but at least it's a start. It's only been 6 months & I'm told I'll need at least a year before I can qualify for a mortgage, especially with all the foreclosures lately. I'm wondering if I can get someone I trust, who has the money, to buy the home & then do a rent-to-own contract with me for a year or so, until I could get it in my name. Right now I don't need the wider halls, etc., but since there is a good chance I will later, I'd love to get this home. Plus, with my Mom having Alzheimer's, it's only a matter of time until she moves back in with me, and she's close to needing a walker now.

I swing like a pendulum between trying to figure out a way to get this home & telling myself just to be patient for another year or so. It's just not often that a home like this comes on the market. One thing about living in , Indiana, is that housing is very cheap compared to other parts of the country.

Oh, well, was it Patti Page who sang "Que sera, Que sera, what will be, will be?"

Hi,

VNA is the Visiting Nurse Association in town. They come out and help me wash up, do my hair and check my butt for bedsores since I no longer stand or walk. This way (my husband gets a break). We just moved back home after being gone since the end of March. The house was gutted and made handicap ready it’s wonderful, but at 50 yrs old (this year) we’ll be paying a mortgage until we’re 90!!!!!!! I got my computer set up & email back, boy did I really miss it. I’m unpacking slowly now, so when I get pictures I’ll post them. I have a journey album too, 130lbs Dec 1998 when I was first diagnosed, to around 250lbs now after 7 years of continuous Prednisone. (YUK)!!!!! Keep smiling and know both & I have you all in our thoughts and prayers. Always Terrie (Connecticut one)
