Guest guest
Hi I have a medication question. Last time I had surgery the Dr gave me Perocet and I had a bad reaction. What is another pain med that is equal to the effectiveness of Perocet? Thanks. Ruth

Guest guest
Ruth, do they have any idea what you reacted to in the Percocet? It has similar ingredients to Vicadin (Lortab, hydrocodone), but slightly different. I've had patients allergic to Tylenol w/codeine who could take Percocet fine. Can you take the Tylenol w/codeine, or the Vicadin? Darvocet is another one that is similar; again, it would be nice to know which component in the Percocet caused the reaction. I take Percocet for my back & hip pain; it's the only thing that helped. Vicadin didn't do anything. I've never taken much pain medication, so I know it wasn't tolerance to the meds; just a slightly different combination of ingredients. I'll look up these meds today for you & list the ingredients; maybe you can identify a troublemaker. Since learning the MBSR (Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction), I've only needed the Percocet a couple of times. I forget how far you are from Indy, but if you could do that class sometime, I think it would help with your overall pain. You obviously have a lot more going on that I do, but Tracie will agree with me on this, you would be amazed at the results! Ramblin' Rose Moderator A merry heart is good medicine.
