Guest guest
Hi Sanna That's great news about Veeti - and Lenni! Congratulations!!! I can't believe that it is already 2 and 1/2 years ago that we moved into your old room at RMH and had treated by Dr Ponseti just after you had been there. We are hoping to go to Iowa in Spring/Summer 2006 so that can see Dr Ponseti again and we will also visit our friends in New Jersey. He will be 3 and 1/2 then and we hope that he might be nearly finished with the shoes by then. I wish you a great autumn and winter with your two boys. Warm wishes from a very hot Johannesburg, South Africa (30 deg C / 86 deg F)! Love, and www.clubfoot.co.za Steps Charity www.steps.org.za Veeti's update Hi all, Veeti had his 3,5 -year check up virtually with Dr. Ponseti and face to face with Dr. Vahasarja in Finland. Both doctors said it is ok to stop the brace use. Veeti's foot shows no signs of relapse, it has a 25-30 degree dorsiflexion and no adductus. Toes occasionally point slightly inwards but that is supposed to be quite normal. Veeti still has 1,5 cm difference in leg lenght from knees to ankles, and it is being controlled once a year. So far the treatment has been a lift under the sole of the shoe, and if the difference remain under 3 cms, that is all that ever has to be done. We have also had a second child, Lenni, (a beautiful boy), with normal feet and hands. Lenni is now 3 months old and already rolling, huhhuh. We have built a house in Oulu and moved just a month ago. I haven't had a regular access to the internet, so I haven't been able to participate more in this group. has been kind enough to keep me posted about the most important issues, thanks for that. We wish a wonderful autumn for all our friends overseas, and thank you all once again for support. Sanna & Veeti (05/06/02) from Finland (Veeti has left clubfoot, was initially casted for 5 months in Finland, was supposed to have a PMR surgery at 9 mos old, was then succesfully treated by Dr. Ponseti in Iowa City with three casts and a tenotomy. Today Veeti's original doctor has been trained in Iowa City to use the Ponseti method in clubfoot treatment.)
