Guest guest
Hi , Our 11 yr. old son uses O2 full time, and we have learned some ways to adapt things for children. I don't know what company is your home provider, so that makes a little difference. We have Apria for the O2 and bi-pap. Collin used to use a portable tank that was called a B tank and it had a conserving device that gave O2 when he took a breath, conserving the oxygen so he could carry a smaller tank. He carried the tank in a backpack made for the tank. Once he was used to it, it didn't really bother him too much. It was better than the tether system of us carrying his tank because of the bigger size. We now use a home fill system that is an even smaller tank with a shoulder bag. He doesn't like carrying it on his shoulder as it limits his movements, so we put it in a cool school backpack. The tank fills here at home off of his concentrator, so we don't have a lot of tanks and home delivery to deal with. We only have two of these home fill tanks though, and I think we need one more. Even with a conserving device, because they are smaller they don't last as long and it's not exactly like we can refill in a restaraunt or roadside rest off an interstate. We like the homefill system the best so far. These tanks are small enough to fit in a pre-school backpack, though I'm not sure about the weight issue with your son, whether it is too much or not. Hope this helps some. Best wishes, Joni > Hi all, > Just wondering what kind of setup people are using with their little > ones, if they need O2 during the day.
