Guest guest
All, I just got off the phone with SSF and they told me that the wait for surgery is until July or August. I feel so impatient now! I had my apointment with Dr. Li this month and he told me May or June. I want to understand that they are short on surgeons but it is kind of difficult to wait another 6 months just to have the surgery after I have attended all the classes and lost the weight that was required. Originally I I put myself on the cancelation list, but they also told me that there will be no list due to so many people wanting to be added to the list. I felt I had to vent. Thanks for listeninig. Guest guest
Before Kaiser docs started performing the surgery in Northern California, Kaiser used to contract out all their surgeries--most to Pacific Bariatrics in San Diego. Kaiser paid for the plane trip down, and hotel stay required by the surgeon. Kaiser in Southern California STILL doesn't do the surgery themselves, so I was contracted out to Pacific Bariatrics. PB staff is the greatest and they use Scipps Hospital--which is absolutely top notch. Because I live less than 100 miles, they did not pay for my travel or hotel. (The 73 miles each way is a real drag, but well worth it.) What I'm getting to--I wonder if NO CA Kaiser would consider contracting out some surgeries until they get their staff back up? Somehow I suspect not, since it is certainly more expensive for them. But, you might want to ask! Guest guest
Since I got in just under the wire (surgery 2/2/06), I can't even imagine how frustrating it must be to get held up by this circumstance. But please hang on to the support you get here and keep yourself as strng and healthy as possible for your surgery. Best of luck - Randy > > All, > > I just got off the phone with SSF and they told me that the wait for > surgery is until July or August. I feel so impatient now!
