a milestone for me

Today is a great day for me. I finally weigh under 250!!!!!

For years, 250 has been a weight I used to judge my weight loss efforts (if I

get under 250, I'll know I'm going to make it), etc.

I was thinking this morning, that for anyone who says that WLS is the " easy

way out " , I have news for them....this isn't easy! And I've had it so " easy "

compared to most. I can eat anything I want. I almost never get nauseated,

I never throw up. I can eat a bit more now (at 17 weeks out), which means I

don't get hungry as often, which is nice. But for me, weight loss just was

not happening without exercise. That is where the hard work comes in. I am

exercising 4 days per week (water aerobics, stationary bike, weight

resistance machines) and walking on the other days. I try hard to make

sensible eating choices: I try to eat mostly protein. And I have to watch

it because I do get the occasional " munchies " . So far it seems to be just

that, occasional, doesn't last more than a day - but I do watch it.

I feel so much better than I did before surgery, there just aren't words to

explain it. I can stand without agony. I can walk without pain. I have

more energy than I ever did before. I can tie my shoes without strangling

myself! It just feels wonderful to be able to do the simplest things in life

without pain.

I am determined to lose one-half of my excess weight at six months. This is

my major goal. I will NOT waste this weight loss window. I am praying that

no ugly plateau comes my way! All I can do is make good eating choices and

exercises and hope for the best!
